Wind is going to pick up once the rain stops.

ETA: And now I don't have to worry about parking 10 blocks from my place.

Yeah thats probably a front moving through which means the wind generally comes later. I am sure they are just being extra cautious because of what happened last night.

Gale warning goes into effect at 6 PM tonight so it's safe to say the wind you're feeling right now isn't what the issue is.

The wind won't do shite with 30 mph gusts and a full float. I'll bet the gusts calm down by 7pm and maybe you have 15 mph with gusts to 20-23

This. High wind advisory begins in 2 hours. They aren't cancelling for the current conditions. No clue how some people make it through the day

He also noted someone getting blown off a float in the 50’s. Granted, it was on the Jeff Davis overpass...so a repeat seems unlikely...

There better be some heliwinds or theres going to be some pissed off Muses...David Benard is on TV saying right now there is already some 35 mph gust

My office is in Gretna on the first floor... and I've been hearing winds since about lunchtime and the gusts seem to be getting stronger.

We always get 6-12 hours of decent winds after a cold front passage.

Just because you got fricked and are upset is no reason for more educated people to hold off on a parade for safety reasons. I doubt they canceled it just to piss off people like you are making it seem.

The clouds are moving quick downtown. I can assure you there is wind on the route already.
