At 6’1.5” and 208 today, the calculator has me at 26.7 BMI. it shows me to be OVERWEIGHT and should weigh between 144-194lbs. At 194, losing 14 lbs I’d be in the normal range.
This is Andrew Sendejo an NFL strong safety and is 6' 1" and 209#. If you look like him BMI indeed doesn't apply to you in terms of being overweight but chances are unless you own a really effective funhouse mirror this isn't what you see looking back at you.

My genetics are not world class, and I have no interest in heavy lifting for a decade and looking like prime Arnold. I am not really even qualified for this discussion, but you seem to be quite a bit off from the figures that were produced from the link you provided.
As a mid-30s white collar guy that rarely works out, much less lifts heavy weights, I'll take average muscle mass and 190 total weight and be quite happy.

that link i provided is based off of you puttin the info in correctly.
but look at the other i posted to get a better idea
and at 6'3" 190 you would be squarely in the nortmal bmi

Well, all I basically said in my initial post was that BMI was outdated and simply measuring your waist was a better method. Also, noted that really all you need to do is take a look in the mirror. Finally, I did provide a link in the initial post as well. You and Salmon lost your shite. Being the zealots you are, for crusading against fat people; which I am all about helping lose weight if asked. Either way it was entertaining and got me through the morning.

There is this myth out there that doctors don't understand the limitations of the BMI charts, which is ridiculous.
Doctors understand this and take it into account when they examine you.
For example, I am 5'11" and in the 200-205 range. A year ago I was around 220. I have an athletic build, and my doctor said that I would likely always be in the "overweight" category with the additional muscle mass. However, he also clarified that, regardless, I could stand to lose about 10 pounds, which I did.
He is satisfied with my weight even though I am "overweight". He also considered my normal blood pressure and lipid levels.
They can tell if you're carrying more muscle mass than the general population.

I'm willing to bet that 100% of the people calling others "fatty" are obese/overweight (according to the BMI) in this thread. Especially guys over 30 who live in Louisiana. Come on...
I'm 6' 173 this morning. I spend 12-14 hours on the road bike every week. I am 53 and have been doing this for 4 decades now. I am willing to bet I could eat the diet of the average LA baw that weighs 50 pounds more than me and lose weight. If you want to eat a high-calorie diet all you have to do is balance the output and input.

I did, but it's all good. It's clear you could talk circles around me on this topic and be totally correct, but to me it would look like you were arguing with yourself.

At least you admit that you could lose a couple pounds.

The point is a BMI calculator simply by height and weight is not an accurate measurement of “healthy” or “obese”
Show me your hydrostatic, Bod Pod or DEXA results and we can discuss that athletic physique you possess.

Calories in and out are a myth, just like evolution.
I’ve just got a bad thyroid.
I gain weight just smelling a donut.
But I’m so thankful my BMI is perfect to get me vaccinated.
See y’all in line!

Started doing both twice a week 6 weeks ago. Sans the recovery aspects you mentioned I've experienced a drop in my resting heart rate. My family medical history is all kinds of messed up so I like to stay on top of the vitals. I'm going to continue to do so until the yearly physical in May and I'm interested to see there are any other detectable changes that I've seen mentioned.

Let's be honest. It's the same as the folks who harp on pre-existing conditions when we talk about COVID-19 cases. Knowing good and damn well if you're living in a Southern state there's a 50/50 chance you have a pre-existing condition.
