And the don't be afraid to move around until she finds the right counselor.

I hope you never have to deal with a child suffering with this. It is truly heartbreaking to see this.
Don’t give them a second thought man. There are a lot of fricking idiots on this site.

Can you show a graph that goes past 2015? That's right around when all the social media and smart phones were ramping up.

So looks like it went down?

I have found this for now
So looks like it went down?
Hope so. I wonder what was going on in the mid 90s. I graduated in 1990. Seems the mid 90s was a rough one for HS kids.
ETA: Nope, it was late 80s early 90s

Kinda ironic the toughest generation according to this board killed the selves more than any other
Trolling aside the late 80s to early 90s was a shitty time in America. Only nostalgia washes that away

This might be the culprit. I’d suggest taking her off of it and see what happens.

Started my 9 year old on Anxiety meds last year. He was very closed off, didn't want to experience anything new, and it ruined him at school when things went south even in the slightest. It's helped. He's way more adventurous and even keel. School goes way better.

WHEN (not if) you get her into counseling, be sure to have her tested for any learning disorders.
It might be telling that this event is tied to school, an environment where she doesn’t feel like she fits in with the other kids.
Every kid is wired different. That’s just the nature of genetic variation. Getting her tested and into counseling will help her and you accept her genetic variation so that you can both begin the process of adapting to new information.
Also, anxiety is part of the human condition. Heck, it’s even part of the animal condition. There’s a fight or flight response that both life forms experience where tunnel vision kicks in. Sensory cues outside the cone of focus become irrelevant during these panic attacks. But with counseling she can learn to recognize the onset of anxiety, the triggers, the irrationality of it, and coping strategies.
She may not become less fearful, but she can learn to be more brave.
Sincerely,
Husband of a woman who should have started the process much earlier in life.

I can see that. Also being young, at least for me, probably wasn't paying attention to the craziness around me. I was just partying.

It was just a dark time in the country due to a multitude of reasons. But murder, suicide, addiction, was all at record highs.

Back in the day us boomers had a treatment for anxiety called “belt”. I’m guessing none of you little millenial parents have heard of it with all the sagging pants I see

Our 13 year old has severe anxiety and was losing his shite before going to school, like getting violent. He’d refuse and would do whatever it took not to go. We got him in with a great adolescent counselor and in the last 6 months or so he’s done a complete 180. Loves school and seeing his friends. It def helps a ton at this age.

I remember crime being bad. Seems alcohol is frowned upon much more now than back then, but I could be wrong. Almost every friend's dad, and mine, drank after work, and even more-so on weekends. Most men I am friends with now and work with, don't drink much, or it's just on the weekend.

As someone who used to drink everyday after work man alcohol is just pure poison. It’s wild how social norms work.
