He was a great songwriter, but that doesn't mean he isn't overrated in that regard. Most sidewalk Beatles fans think he wrote everything, because of the way he's been esteemed in pop culture since his death.

By comparison, Revolver-Abbey Road were definitely high art compared to their early work.
Their early work was great. Don’t get me wrong. But it was essentially the same honky-tonk they had been playing since The Quarrymen days.
When they decided to explore all that was possible with studio recording, they elevated rock and roll to a respectable art form/
Hell, Sgt. Pepper’s was THE FIRST rock album to win the Grammy for Album of the Year.

The Beatles are one of, if not the best bands off all time.. They are also very interesting, the way they evolved from loving feel good songs to Sgt Peppers.. Etc.. George Harrison was underrated IMO.. And Ringo gets shite on,skill wise) but his quirky style fit the band….and he had some cool stuff he came up with, McCartney is great and goes without saying..
I agree to an extent on John. He was wife beater and a deadbeat to Julian… And his leftist bs.. but it seems all great musicians are leftist.. so there’s that….
I will say it was written he enjoyed fans, and was cordial. Hence stopping and signing his murderers album before getting shot in the back….
