My son and daughter in law live in Aurora and I have been up there several times to visit - doesn’t seem like a bad place to me at all - much nicer than any of the big cities in Louisiana as far as crime goes. They both work at the University and used to live in Cherry Creek but moved out to Aurora (near the space force base) to buy a house (prices lower than in the city) once they had my grand daughter and commute to work now in Denver. They used to could walk to work when they lived in Cherry Creek.
If your job is in Aurora, I’d just get a place there to minimize your daily commute and save your driving for jaunts into the city or out west to the mountains.
Saw Whiskey Myers at Red Rocks this past June, they were awesome - great venue.

Job is in Aurora - but heard that may not be the best place to live.
Knew someone that lived in Aurora once upon a time. We went to visit on year and stayed a few days and thought nothing of it. Seems like a nice place. Homes weren’t bad. I’ve seen and been in WAY worse. Enjoyed our visit.
During our visit, we were told we were staying in the “ghetto part of Denver.” I couldn’t help but laugh because it’s no where even remotely close to the real ghetto.

Traffic is hell. I-70 is a traffic jam on weekends going to and coming from the mountains. Overrun with cali and yankee libs.
Beautiful part of the world and everyone is in shape. Exercising and outdoor activities are a lifestyle. More men than women.

What are bad areas of Denver like? Colfax, but it's petty homeless crime more than violent crime.
I lived off colfax directly south of middle of city park and absolutely loved it. The natives I worked with were always mortified when they found out and would lecture me about being safe. fricking hilarious having lived in BR and NOLA before that.
I never felt unsafe nor looked over my shoulder once anywhere near Denver in 8 years of living in CO. It’s vanilla af. Having to look at homeless people is the most dangerous thing they have to deal with

My brother just moved there basically just to gtfo of LA. Took a job for less money(-5k-ish), less security. Wife took a job with no future. Had no place to live. Put their shite in a pod, moved it, rented an air bnb for a week while they looked for a place. Found a rental for $3k/mth on ~$110kish/yr. I’d like to gtfo of LA as much as the next guy but they’re frickin retarded

When people say it’s “bad” yea it’s not the best but it’s nowhere near as bad as living in New Orleans proper as far as crime goes.
Absolutely true….there are some areas that are not as nice as others, but I never felt unsafe there.

My buddy lives in Monument about 50 minutes from Aurora. He bought a big arse house in a conservative enclave for about 400k a few years ago.

Spend a lot of time up here.
Golden would be high on my choices as would Broomfield and TBH Aurora is not all that bad. Just depends on your willingness to drive. They do a great job with snow so do not be scared of driving on it. I70 Can suck but no worse than any big city.

As a poster upthread said it's like the nicer part of Kenner (a NOLA suburb
Interesting.. so the town of Aurora CO is like living in Chateau Estates, or on Vintage Dr /Joe Yenni or wherever Ricky Williams used to live ?

A very good friend bought a condo in Aurora and worked in Golden. After she inherited money, she moved to Golden.
Some things: before you commit to a rental location, make sure it's not near the train line that has lots of loud trains all night long.
Find a rental that has covered parking because the hail storms there will mark up a car badly
If you have young children their lips will be so badly chapped because they lick constantly because they are used to the humidity that they will never feel again.
You will never feel outdoor-sy enough to fit in to places like Boulder
Expect to have some of your winter clothes for the snow storm that may happen in late September.
Most apartments had wood fireplaces at one time: no longer Burning wood is mostly forbidden because the inversion layer traps the wood smoke.

I just moved to Lakewood and it’s on the edge of the mountains. It’s beautiful and I can be in the mountains in 5 minutes. No crime. The worst part of denver is just the people you see downtown in Denver that are trans or homeless and begging while smoking fentanyl pills in the open on a piece of foil in front of god. And everyone .
Denver has so many people and especially if you add the metros .
