Have you tried eating less food?

A lot of the research chem sites are going to stop offering them. The pharm companies are going to start going after them.

Order overseas. Problem solved
They’re cracking down on this big time. I did this to get a cheaper med and it was confiscated at the border. I received two letter letters from the feds. The first one scared the living shite out of me. One was to tell me it was confiscated in the documents I needed to provide if I wanted to appeal. That letter also said it would be destroyed after 30 days I believe. The second letter stated that it was destroyed. The medicine has to be unavailable here or it has to be a continuation of treatment from overseas. And you have to provide documentation.
If it’s under a certain amount of dollars, they’re basically just going to destroy it with no repercussions. At least for your first offense. I don’t know what mine was, but it was definitely under $100.

Our company changed insurance companies Jan 1.
Doc this week changed one of my meds. New insurance company denied it,
So we are off to a good start!

I wonder if United Healthcare is playing the same game. Need to refill my prescription of the big Ozempic.
I wonder if Trump RX is screwing up the formularies so in order for the drug companies to reclaim some of the loss through over billing insurance and push people to self pay and Trump RX.

You can have your provider send the Rx directly to Lilly pharmaceuticals and it is $500/month

Is price increase related to all the cuts to healthcare going on?
Posted on 1/17/26 at 12:29 am to The Torch
My wife has to take a once a day pill.
A 15 day supply, before insurance, cost $29,000.
We pay $20.00 for each refill.

NPR “Every January, pharmaceutical companies increase the prices of hundreds of drugs”
Well this is horseshot.
Drug companies often raise prices annually due to a lack of regulation, allowing them to increase prices beyond inflation rates.
This needs to be outlawed.
Forbes. Article on drug companies bending us over.
“Private insurers are happy, in the long run, about high healthcare expenses, because they can hike premiums and still get a 4% margin on top of their spending. In fact, insurance companies thrive with high healthcare prices—it’s better to make 4% margin over a huge amount of healthcare expenditure over a small amount.”
And neither party is doing crap about it while they all have free healthcare.

No sympathy for people getting named brands.
So many online places offer GLP-1s, it is scary. Let alone any "health" clinic.

Logged into my UHC account. Looks like they did change the pricing for Ozempic in my plan, it will now be 40 dollars for 28 day supply instead of my usual 25 dollars.
I like the UHC app, in that it will show me pharmacies in my area and what are the estimated costs if I fill a prescription at Walmart, CVS, Optum pharmacy by mail, or some local pharmacy.
I am noticing some deals at the local independent pharmacies. Where I am paying 10 dollars at Walmart, but it is about 1.20 at an independent pharmacy and maybe 3 dollars for a 90 day supply at Optum.
Might have to take advantage of the deals with Ozempic going up.

36 year as health insurance broker so let me explain what's going on.
Semaglutides aka GLP-1's are nothing new. They're not a brand name drug or under any patent and they're dirt cheap.
The companies that market Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound etc.. simply patented a very specific and irrelevant dosage and more importantly a delivery system in the form of a convenient injection pen similar to the insulin injection pens used by diabetics. The FDA allowed a very inexpensive drug to become a very expensive drug due to the convenient pre loaded injection pen instead of using a normal syringe,
During Covid the supply could not keep up with the demand so the federal government allowed compounding pharmacies to produce the semaglutides. The cost was only around 15- 20 bucks a month. Major insurers like Blue Cross simply purchased from the compounding pharmacies and that's why your Ozempic, Zepbounds, Mounjaros, etc were a 10.00 a month co-pay. This is also why there were so many Ozempic parties where you could get a $2 shot of Tequila and a $5 shot of Ozempic. This all came to an end in March of 2025 when the supply finally met up with demand and the FDA changed their ruling. Now, the official "Ozempics", "Zepbounds" "Mounjaros" etc are ridiculously expensive but you can simply go to compounding pharmacies and purchase the same drug with a standard injection syringe for a fraction of the price. Also, TrumpRX is about to go online where if you are Medicare A & B eligible you will be able to receive the Semaglutides based on BMI and not only a diagnosis of diabetes or pre-diabetes. There are solutions to high prescription medication costs but the solution requires a little research.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) insures over 8 million members and I doubt any of them will pay $3,900.00 or Zepbound.
Will the drug makers start adjusting their prices if demand falls off a cliff.
I would assume if BC/BS did this that most other major carriers are doing the same.
