You can read the whole article if you want, but there was a little more to it than just treating him and kicking him out.

He got jumped in Utah after a show.
Not to be a jerk, but has that been substantiated? Very sad no matter what but I don’t think there’s any record of the attack, that’s just what he told the hospital. Was he touring solo? Seems like there’s more to the story than is being told.

In the article...
quote:
The hospital official said Snider stood in the hallway, "cussing and screaming" and was "loud and obnoxious" while calling people names. Another staff member is heard saying that Snider had threatened to "kick my ___."
That's a little more than just being combative...
But obviously this dude had something going on with him, he was just mugged and beaten over the head. We weren't there to see what actually went down.
Watching the body cam video, he definitely seems off. They were treating him like some random drug attic or a homeless person. I think they should brought him back to the hospital.

Greensky and many others on tour honored him with a song and words. Nice version of Play A Train Song last night in Miami to close out their Fall tour.

This was my favorite. Saw the Hard Working Americans many times.

I remember buying something at Paradise Records in the early 90’s and a promo cd of “Alright Guy” was thrown in the bag. I listened to it more than a few times for sure, and years later I saw Jerry Jeff at the Varsity and he covered it. I was like “hey! I remember that song from back in the day..”
Hopefully, Jerry Jeff was waiting to greet him in the land where everyone is barefoot.

It's hell to get old, losing to many folks that were part of growing up. RIP, Mr Snider.

Typical left wing nut job behavior

Never heard of the guy, but reading the thread he sounds like a POS.

He was well know around Nashville for being a good dude. He certainly had his own personal demons, but a lot of artists like him do.
Sounds like he had a pretty bad head injury. He was already pretty far out there, and combine that with a head injury and I could see how hospital staff/police would think he's just a homeless schizo. It's just kind of odd. Like, where were his band mates or manager in all of this? He was touring when this happened. Like, did he get into a fight with his band and they abandoned him?

He wasn't. He got combative about being discharged. He felt very strongly that he should not be discharged from the hospital. The doctors disagreed, so he started cursing people out and threatening. Hospital called cops. He got arrested.
He was stabbed on the 2nd, arrested on the 3rd, and died on the 14th

I hate to speculate about the actions of a dead man, but Todd had a history of sneaking off to cop drugs. His manager and bandmates were always trying to protect Todd from Todd, so he would sneak away.
So, I think he snuck off by himself to score, got hit over the head and robbed.
Not saying that's what happened, and at this point it's irrelevant, but it fits his history of wandering around streets late at night on his own.

He was an unmitigated mess, and I loved him for it. Through his brokenness he really shared his experience through songs and stories and he did it with a sense of wordplay style that was unique to him. I saw him several times live, both solo and with various bands. He was always fun and funny, and I got the sense that he was grateful that so many people would show up for his act. “Near Truths and Hotel Rooms” is one of my favorite albums of all time, and he had a lot of good ones. He will be missed.

In the police video, he said "my band ditched me." So I'm not sure how much to believe the vague story about being "jumped" or mugged.
Just looked at his discography, and forgot how much I used to listen to him back in the college years. Had at least his first 5 albums, and saw him once. Kind of lost me when he went more pure folk/acoustic.

He was a true artist and American treasure, despite his personal challenges and demons. His death has hit me hard.
RIP Todd. You will be missed.

You have it backwards podnah.
He was begging to stay and asking for additional treatment. They thought he was some homeless guy seeking dope.
I don’t know what really happened. But it is probably a very good idea for his family to explore options and see if anyone was negligent.
