I would go with the Omega. That way, you’re not limited to just submarines.

Black or Polar? Polar is harder to get. Black EXP IIs are selling for ~1.5 times retail and the Polar dials are selling for about $1,000 more on the grey market.

Black. Just not will to buy on gray market.

Both are great watches. I've owned 5 omegas over the years and 3 Rolexes. I'd trade or sell them off for other stuff. The Rolexes BY FAR held and even increased in value vs the Omegas. IMO, expensive watches are a huge waste of money, but so are so many other hobbies we have. Best bet is to get a preowned one and hope you don't lose your arse if you flip it. I bought the Rolexes years ago when they weren't stupid expensive. No way I'd pay that kind of money at today's prices. Omegas are still somewhat in my price range (preowned).

I wouldn't think you would have to wait much longer at the AD for a black dial. Just curious do you swing by there and touch base on occasion? I know some people see it as bending the knee but anecdotally it helps.

This thread prolly for higher end watches but I just picked this one up for about tree-fiddy. Seagull 1963: 40mm Hand wound chronometer - reissue of the watch Chinese fighter pilots wore in the 60s. The dial is pretty slick and it keeps good time so far.

Appreciate the heads up. I alterate stopping by and texting every 2 months or so. I'm told that I'm first on list if the watch arrives, but I know that other high paying customers could easily leap frog me.

So are Glashutte Original, Blancpain, and Breguet with that line of thinking.

I just had a 12 series no date sub pass through my hands - said yes to the AD and passed it on to a friend (without the market premium because I enjoy someone I know that wants the watch for reasons that I like getting one without getting gouged by a grey). Had the opportunity to look it over really good. Love the case proportions, not stoked about the marginally wider bracelet, but its subtle and looks good with the watch, wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. I'm just an avowed 5 digit guy when it comes to Rolex sports watches.

I have both. Well, my Omega is the Planet Ocean Chrono, but between those two: Omega

Rolex demand is insane right now though

Definitely a Rolex. When this post was made, you could probably get a submariner for $11k—that same watch would fetch $16k

It definitely helps to stop by in person rather than just text.

I went with the planet ocean about 4 months ago and no buyers remorse.
