Are you not human? Interest in and even obsession with tragedy is a part of the human condition.

Plus, they made it really easy to become obsessed... making it a two week feature of the 24hr news cycle.

but the focus here has not been on the tragedy but on rumor and sensation

One could be taken by the mystery and the tragedy and it not be discussed with the level of macabre as has been

You announcing all this in your evening press conference?

Not far from Mexico. Wouldn’t doubt you could fairly easily acquire anything you needed from there

I’m not saying there’s not a good chance all of that is true. Think about telling the family that— then flipping the strategy of the investigation and lo and behold weeks from now you crack the case and discover she was actually alive up to 2 days prior to you finding her. But since you declared her “deceased” and changed your goals you have to face the family and the public with that. Just saying…..

It's disgusting how it's become a spectator sport

Brother Owlvis, suffering, pain, and misery have been a point of shared interest for humans throughout our entire existence. We used to parade dead outlaws through town and lay them out for the townspeople to come gawk at, and we'd bring the whole family. When the Civil War kicked off we packed a basket, put on our Sunday best, found a nice hill overlooking the battlefield, and had ourselves a family picnic as the slaughter was carried out in the distance. We gawked at the true "freaks" of society whenever a carnival or circus came through town, medical oddities were especially interesting. We'd watch duels like they were modern afternoon football games — knowing full well someone was going to die. Bare knuckle fighting was a big draw and the fights would go on for rounds and rounds, lasting hours as we cheered and laid wagers on our favorite. Hell, there's even a famous story of an actual dead man who was "stuffed" and spent the next 80+ years being carted around the country, getting views for nickles — the coin was put in his mouth — eventually he wound up as a haunted house decoration and got stowed away in storage when it went defunct.

We are a macabre species at our base.

Sheriff Nanos tells the New York Times it could “weeks or months or years,” but he “won’t quit” searching for Nancy Guthrie.

... sure ...

the way things look like right now, we probably won't be told anything until maybe after the mid-terms. Do you think for a minute the sheriff's office would release info right now if an illegal was involved???
That would destroy all the point of the protesting the Dems have been doing these last few months

Take a look ... look at just how fast this thread dropped down after last night's developments.

They probably do know now, but they ain't telling you ...

Medicinal care and prescriptions are VERY cheap across the border. Many Americans cross every day for that reason alone.

There is an Instagram account that you personally will know being so close to Austin that shows fights on 6th street. TXATXFights or something.

Anyway, looking at the absolute anger so many people have is very discouraging for society. We’re all at heightened alert for everything - terrorism, school shootings, whether or not you should kill someone when they’re trying to kill you, etc etc. Shits a boiler plate.

It's been almost 3 weeks and if somebody kidnapped her for ransom they have probably figured out by now they not getting that money so they're not going to Mexico to get her comparable medications. It'd be great if somehow she got back home but it feels a lot like:

Now? How obtuse are you? First off, she’d be dead 2 weeks ago if they don’t have her meds depending on what they are (I have no idea). So we aren’t talking about today or yesterday.

The point is you can get her meds before kidnapping her if you plan or once they realize they need it as in first 24 hours, in Mexico. So this whole “she’s dead because they don’t have her meds” is ridiculous. If you don’t have a clue how easy medication is in Mexico the please refrain from answering.

Never watched the faces of death video, don't watch wrestling, don't watch bum fights, not into murder porn

Just because trashy people are into this stuff doesn't mean it's good

it's bad for society, it desensitizes, numbs us to what is and should be considered terrible
