Glad you’re happy and getting settled. I visited a friend there a couple months ago and am considering relocating there as well.

Do you live in Charleston proper or one of the smaller towns?

We’re on the peninsula. West edge. About half a mile southwest of king street. Can see the scoreboard from the Riverdogs stadium from our second bedroom.

Chicago is a great American city but I'd much rather live in Charleston

Chicago is awesome. It’s just declined and was no longer right for me.

You moved to South Carolina at the same time I moved out of South Carolina.

Enjoy, but the state is just becoming South New Jersey or Ohio.

Charleston is one of my favorite cities. South Carolina, as a whole, is awesome.

Same. Big cities don't have anything that interests me anymore. None of them really.

Favorite restaurant so far? Have you eaten at Fig, zero George, poogans porch, husk, SNOB, etc?

Which of those places would be the Charleston equivalent of New Orleans’ Mothers? (ie line out the door, mostly tourists, locals really don’t eat there)

Any hole in the wall favorite places to eat? Dive bars?

Agree with you about that stretch of I-26 between I-77/I-20 and I-95. 18 wheelers, snowbirds from Ontario pulling RV’s, locals doing 90 mph weaving thru in their jacked up trucks.

Ate at Anson last night and it was great. I also love 167 Raw, SNOB, Magnolia's, Leon's, Edmund's Oast, Callie's for a biscuit, and have a bunch of places I still wanna hit.

On the bar side, went to Bumpa's last night and liked it. I like Charleston Beer Works, which is also the Badger bar in town. Revelry and their rooftop beer garden was really nice, but I still need to hit the rest of the breweries up there. Sharehouse yesterday was fun and a good indoor/outoor scene. May swing by Meeting at Market today for some of the games.

Also, I was starting to lean Gamecocks for my in state football allegiance because it's closer than Clemson and an easy drive, but then I talked to a fellow building resident who went to Georgia...and he said "have you ever been to Columbia?", "it's a shithole", "I don't think there's a "nice" part of Columbia", "the stadium is off campus and it's all pavement around it", and a few other things. That soured me a bit, but still may check it out for the Gators game this fall. Will force Bruco to come down from Charlotte and join me.

The Manager of the RiverDogs was/is? Blake Butera, played HS Baseball at Mandeville High School, he graduated about 10 years ago.

He played collegiately at Boston College.

Have a great time there, I’m happy you folks escaped that boil on Illinois’ neck.

This is all true. Add in “redneck” and you’ll have the gamecocks bingo card complete.

deeprig, the answer is definitely Hymans. It’s funny because the travel board also list that as a place that you have to go to if you’re in Charleston. I just shake my head and laugh.

Chucktown_Badger, I forgot about bumping this post with the boat club. I may have a taker. Do you have a burner email account you don’t mind posting on here?
