If I must use the self checkout, I take my sweet arse time. Will not be bullied by the neck beards behind me looking as if I should be moving as fast as the employees working the registers

feel like we have been conditioned for years with crappy service

The conditioned behavior is standing in line and waiting to someone else to ring up each item and bag it because that was the only realistic way for hundreds of years.

Scanning your own items after you picked them off the shelf makes a lot of sense once the technology is in place.

I guess you are upset that no one unloads all your groceries for you when you get back home?

I prefer self checkout to most of the individuals who work registers. I'm going for whichever line is the shortest. What chaps my arse is all the registers that the store installed but are never used. Why build them if you aren't gonna use them?

No self checkout at my grocery store. Mine offers personal service where the grocer knows you and are checked out by real people and the high school kids bag your groceries and will take it to you car if you want. The way God intended.

At least there aren’t suggested tip levels when I use self checkout, like every other business.

The correct way if thi king about it. Now if they'd just lower the censors on the damn things. Touch that damn bag spinner and you spend the next 5 minutes waiting for a teenager or grandma to reset your register and confirm you arent stealing.

I prefer them because they are (read: I am) usually faster and I don't have to deal with other people.

I find it amusing that people who use self checkout get so riled up when someone says they don’t like it

The less I have to deal with incompetent clerks the better

I don't want to talk to anyone and I am 10 times faster than the cashiers. I prefer self checkout and kiosks any day of the week to avoid human contact.

They quit hiring checkout people and are now using the customers as ‘free employees’ to do self checkout. That is why the other lines are empty.

Everybody says that but I think studies have proven otherwise.

I like it. I don't have to talk to people like the op, probably complaining about standing in line.

The two for one deals are worth it.

I see people waiting in line when self checkout is open and wonder what's wrong with them.

This was funnier in your head. Of course the racists here will lap it up like you're headlining the Blue Collar Comedy Tour.

I prefer to use a check and place the items on the conveyor belt so they bag them in the best possible manor.

That said, if those lines are long I'll self checkout and Walmart has upped their game on those trying to steal. I had the self-checkout cop come by my scanner three times when I was scanning grapes. I don't know what the eye in the sky thought I was doing, but it repeatedly red flagged me.

He came by, said "Yeah it happens all the time" and cleared the machine to continue.

Glad to hear it. One less person that can’t figure it out holding up the line.

I don’t think it riles people up that you don’t use it, it’s that anti-self check out people make the dumbest arguments against it.

“Oh I’m not working for the store for free”
That fricking stupid.
