That is probably spot on. When I talked to my wife today, she could hearing the bombing outside but far away and was hardly concerned. Me on the other hand, have been pacing back and forth and posting on here, is therapy at this point.lol.
I tend not worry about "what ifs". Well the whatif just happened and now I'm worried.

Ukrainians are survivors.
The old woman in "Chernobyl" that wouldn't leave sums this up. These people have been through so much.
Ukraine has been through it.

Russian troops are not going to come in shooting and raping civilians.
German citizens who survived WWII and who walked from what became East Germany to the Western sectors beg to differ. What makes the current Russian Soldier any different than his Grandfather and Great Uncles?

Expect anything less from a Ukrainian?

asked her why she didn't leave when I asked her to. (Keep in mind she never believed Russia would invade). Her response was "everything is okay". She still believes the dentist will be open, IVF in Kiev will be open. I asked her how she planned on going to Kiev in March with a war going on. Her response was "I went in 2020 when everyone was dying of covid. It was dangerous then, but now I have a baby." She then told me it was good that I left. I asked her "Why? I told you I wanted to be there if Russia invades" She said, I was an american and left it at that.
You’re about to find out just how different people are over there compared to here. It’s a different mindset than we are used to here. Imagine how American housewives would act if there was bombs going off in the distance here.
I kind of respect it tbh. I hope your family remains safe and finds a way to get to you if things get worse

You'll probably find it cathartic to post pics of wife

You should have done everything in your power to get your baby out of there. Hell tons of people in this thread kept telling you that, but you refused to listen

Russian soldiers hated Germans. Russians actually like Ukrainians. It is also bad publicity for Putin and these days everyone has a camera. I'm not saying things won't happen, but it won't be the rape of Nanking.

your wifes decision is one thing, but why didnt you take your daughter. frick what your wife wants, the kid is yours too and she is putting her in danger.
Exactly. I’ve been trying to wake this dude up. He thinks he is powerless.
Take your fricking kid out of the warzone. Maybe that will be motivation for your wife to leave to.
It’s like your wife is smoking crack and she has the kid in the crack den with her, while you are saying “there is nothing I can do she is addicted to crack”. How about you get your fricking kid out of danger? Your job is to protect your daughters life because she can’t make her own decisions.
You act like there is nothing you can do. Have you talked to the state department?

I have been staying in Lysychansk in East Ukraine close to the Russian border. I'm in Kharkiv tonight because I fly out from here.

Lets work through that conversation. Honey, I have decided to take the baby with me tomorrow. You don't even have a plane ticket for her. I'm going to take her anyway. Russia is not going to invade and my sister is coming here next month to see the baby. I'm taking her anyway, I don't care what you say.

Based on this thread, he is right. His wife is 100% in charge. He should just be glad she allowed him to leave.

Yea that’s pretty much it
If there is even a 10% chance your family could be stuck in a warzone then you make that call. Y’all don’t live there and aren’t asking you family to evacuate. You are on a fricking vacation for Christ’s sake
Of course everyone in Ukraine is saying they won’t invade. They live there and don’t want to accept the obvious, where are they going to go?

Your wife is in denial. She’s more worried about IVF than protecting the child she already has. I hope she wakes up and escapes to Poland or Romania.

his Ukrainian wife loves her family more than her American husband, go figure
when he left on Feb 13 and she didnt go with him, he lost the plot. she is in control of her actions and where she wants to be, there is nothing he can do about it

It’s amazing that some things even have to be explained. As someone with young daughters I can’t imagine letting something like this happen and then just being like “LOL, women be shoppin’!!!”
