Got off the plane in LV last week and the wheelchair guy came up and asked if I needed help. Less severe but more often people holding doors for me.

When you are young and fall down people laugh. When you are old people come running to help.

I say it to the person at the grocery, the chick fil a, the delivery person...
It's manners and good manners are ageless.
This is the way it should be. Its respectful not age bashing. Little trickier these days with all the they/thems littering the public service space but nonetheless. They'll get over it.
