I know a dozen Californians that left the state in the last 6 years or so. And all of them except for a single couple were all Trump voters. People forget that there are a lot of freedom loving folks in California that are part of the ‘migration’. Texans have a hard time blaming their home grown suburbanites voting the state purple. Easy to blame California

The way I read it Florida gained population (#5).

Cali lost the most (#50).

There are really no similarities between the two unless you spend time in Ensley or Fairfield. Aesthetically and quality of life wise, there is no comparison.

I looked up crime data for Hoover, which is adjacent to Birmingham and has 100,000 residents, where I live -

Homicides: 2023 ended with no non-traffic homicides

Robberies: Decreased to just 9 in 2023, a 40% drop from 2022 and a 23-year low.

Burglaries: Saw a 70% decrease in early 2024 compared to historical highs.

That’s a misconception. Sure, some may be liberals, but most are republicans who can’t take living in those blue states anymore.

Yeah, that’s exactly what happened to metro Atlanta. Gtfoh

I know a family of four households that all moved from Ohio to Tennessee. They are all red voters.

Why do you think that is?

I went to Minnesota in August 1979 and returned to Baton Rouge in August 1982.
Besides living in Dallas in 1976 I’ve been in and around the Baton Rouge area since.

better state right now than SC in my opinion, which is noticeably poorer and not handling the growth well. (Of course, I miss the SC of my youth).

SC growth is almost entirely Charleston, the beaches and Greenville.

Yes, SC is growing faster than it can handle- at least in my neck of the woods. It sucks. Traffic is horrendous and everything is always busy.

Growth at the expense of quality of life.

Was listening to a broadcast the other day that had 2024 census data have California, Florida, Texas, New York, Illinois, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, New Jersey as the sates with the high move out rate. In that order.

FL and TX most likely gaining as much as their losing. I think a lot of dems have gotten out of FL personally. Either way we got too many people here.

Louisiana is a special place to the locals, but not to people from other states. People that are living there when they decide to retire are extremely likely to leave the state. In most states there is a good chance that retirees stay due to their kids starting families there. Younger people born in Louisiana to parents not from there have spent a lot of time visiting relatives in other states and see the differences in quality of life and tend to leave, so there is no reason for the parents to stay after retirement. These young people grew up spending Thanksgivings at grandparents in places with colorful autumn leaves, hills, mountains, decent roads, better weather, etc. and move there.

my comfortable little enclave.
I feel the same way about my small farm here in Virginia. It's close to everything I love (MTB park, hiking, paddling, music, shooting, etc.) while I've got lots of space.

BUT, the newly elected Va Dems have proposed 50 new tax increases, even though the outgoing Repub admin is leaving a 2.7 billion dollar surplus. This includes additional taxes on investment income. And I just retired. Phuckers.

I've already started talking to the wife about moving to Tennessee if this place turns into NY or Ca.

People leave the expensive most populated areas to move to the cheaper less in demand areas in times of inflation and rising prices. Now this is shocking news!

While this is true, it's also true that a ton of California liberals have relocated here to Idaho.

Boise has a progressive democrat Mayor from Boston who has the Letter People flag flying in front of City Hall.

I see you’ve chosen the old “North = smart, South = dumb” stereotype. Please stay in the North with all of your “intellectuals” if that’s the case.
