Yeah I thank my dad all the time for it and will do the same for my kids so they don't end up with these crazy numbers

It's hard to accumulate wealth at 27 with a 1k student loan note...that's a house

My interest alone is $1100 month. Won't be making any significant payments on it anytime soon.

$399. The fact that I can't wrote off ANY frickING INTEREST infuriates me. We should be abe to write off the entire payment, above the line.

That is the truth. We have combined right around 1K per month, and that is on a 30 year payment plan. We are 10 years into it. Neither of us had undergrad debt--that was just law school. I used to tell my parents all the time that I had 5 house notes--the actual house, the student loans, and then the 3 kids daycare expenses. Now that they are in elementary school it is much better, but our parents didn't have to deal with that shite when they were first coming out of school!

Had a roomie who finished with around $200K, after undergrad and Tulane Law School. That's a nice house note, with no house.

$300/month here. I still have about another 10 years, although I'll just take out a second on my house in about a year or two and pay the f*cker off (I owe about $26K right now). When I first got out, it was close to $900/month, but I've paid off some of the direct school and private loans early. All I have left are the federal student loans.

That's dumb. Those kids getting out of law school right now are begging for paralegal and legal secretary jobs.

Got out of undergrad debt free. Paid off some of grad school, but I pay about $225 or so a month on loans. My interest rate is ridiculously low though.

Wife and I have $900 in minimum payments ($50 of which is mine). We pay an extra $1500-2000 to knock out the highest interest rate groups.
Could have them all knocked out in 4 years. They suck.

I started with 135,000 in loans, that was when i graduated pharmacy school just 2 years ago

I'm at 57,000 now

I'm curious, you guys who have rich parents pay off your loans, are we talking like 20-30. Or over 100k???

I couldn't imagine someone having an extra 100k laying around to just give their kid.
