I’d just be happy that they had the size that I needed at that price when I had to reorder.

You think you are the first to try to pull a with a fast one with a gift card and exchange? Just re-gift it.

1. I had a $250 gift certificate to Nordstrom Rack that was gifted to me.

2. I spend $450 total online to buy clothes ($200 of own money).

3. A sports coat/blazer that was included in the order was $185 (great deal too, 50% off).

4. It was too small, so I needed one size up. They told me on the phone they don’t do exchanges so I had to buy another one and just return the first one and the return will be “credited to your account”.

5. I buy a new one for $185 and it fits great. I then get email saying return was received and approved and they are sending me a new gift card with that balance because the original order total was a majority paid for by gift card.

This infuriates me. For one, I spent more of my own money than the total cost of the jacket on the original order ($185/$200). Secondly, it is their fricking fault they don’t do exchanges for new sizes. I am now out $385 of my own money instead of $200. I don’t need $185 worth of more shite from Nordstrom Rack (but I’m sure I’ll manage), I’d rather have that to pay my damn cable bill or something.

Anyways, that is my 1st world problem of the day. I know it's not a lot of money, but it is the principle of the matter.

I had essentially the same thing happen with me at J Crew. Although it was only a $20 credit so who really cares. Moral of the story is that if you pay any of it with a gift card they will refund to a gift card 100% of the time.

If you would have talked to a customer service rep or went into the story you could have probably talked them into letting you switch it out.

Start off polite and simply explain it. If they give you some bullshite then act pissed. "Are you telling me you can not exchange this? This sucks because I actually like the way your clothes fit me, but I am going to have to find somewhere else where I know I can exchange clothes if something doesn't fit me!"...

Look at the label on all of your clothes. Write down what size you wear, in everything, on a list. Tape the list to the inside of one of your kitchen cabinets. When you are ordering clothes, refer to the list.

This will enable you to order clothes in your size. If making the list is too hard, just holler upstairs to mom and ask her what size jacket you wear.

Not reading the thread, so maybe this has been addressed.

1 Was the return policy on their website?

2 Did they follow the listed policy?

3 Did you ever read the policy?

My haberdashery does not engage in these types of sales shenanigans.

Happened to me the other day at bed bath and beyond. I had twenty dollar gift card. Spent way more than that. Had to return curtains that were the wrong color. They gave it back to me on a gift card for $20 and balance in cash. So I had to buy $20 more stuff.

You've just learned the 1st rule of Internet shopping: always order the value of a coupon/gift card in one order. Then order any excess in a separate order (unless additional shipping costs is an issue). That way there will be no intermingling of "offers" that adversely affect you

You can thank shoplifters and credit thieves for that one.

Sorry your gift card wasn’t to red lobster or Walmart

Hopefully you can cut the sleeves off that jacket so you still fit in at the trailer park
