The difference between two rock solid atheists.

One is a person that is clearly an unpleasant person that would be very difficult to be around. That would be Dave Farina, known as Professor Dave Explains on YouTube.
The other is Penn Jillette of Penn & Teller. You can just tell what an all around good and caring person he is.
Look at the two completely different world views and how each treat their fellow human beings.
First is an interview in print with Professor Dave. Check his demeanor.
After the link is a sound bite with Penn Jillette on a believer giving him a bible and his reaction.
My ‘debate’ with Professor Dave

One’s beliefs does not determine their dispositions or how they treat people. You could find this spectrum in any belief system. For most people, a belief system is shallow, or an identity marker to defend.
One of the biggest arguments against Christianity is that Christian are scripturally said to be more fruitful, and on average they are not more than anyone else, and by their own definition.

Most atheists seem to turn the corner into anti-theists for some reason.
At least towards the beliefs they can get away with being assholes towards. Never towards the ones that will kill you for disbelief.

Seriously? His entire career is being a magician and lying to you in front of your face without you even recognizing it.

I’ve consumed a lot of this content, and I can’t stand to listen to people like Matt Dillahunty. Despite his great arguments, and delivery, his vitriol is repulsive. And the opposite is what draws me to someone like William Lane Craig, who seems so happy even when discussing the slaughtering of the amalokites

Thank you for highlighting the good that can exist in our world.
If the tables were turned, I would have a hard time offering the same grace to an atheist. This is internally conflicting.

It’s observation bias. You don’t notice the ones who don’t.

Do you have the same view towards actors and professional wrestlers?
Penn Jillette is trying to entertain at his magic show. He’s not trying to convince you that he is clairvoyant or actually able to do the impossible.

Man it’s tough to watch and listen to someone who’s heart is hardened against God like that.
He is right though, if you truly believe in Jesus, you should be spreading the word unashamedly.

Penn Gilette has said that if you’re a Christian and you’re not spreading the gospel, you’re either a liar or you hate everybody and don’t care that they’ll spend eternity in hell.
So he’s grateful when Christians try to proselytize with him. They care.

Atheism is a solo pursuit. Anti-theism is not. Humans naturally want to form, maintain and expand their groups. Believers obviously do the same. We believers are at cross purposes with them. Consequently we both see the other group as intolerable jerks.
I can give them a pass for their effort and their opinion of us. But make no mistake, I dont want them to have any governmental power over me and mine.

I wish everyone would just keep their beliefs and politics to themselves unless I ask you about it. Your sexual identity as well. The world would be a better place.

Have you ever seen Penn and Teller perform? Their whole schtick is that they are upfront to the audience that they are doing illusions. Yes, they are still fooling you, but they don't make bullshite claims about their tricks.

Why? Especially if he wasn't of the a-hole variety?
I think Jillette hit it right on the mark with the runaway truck analogy. The reason a Christian would talk to someone else about their faith would be out of kindness / concern over their future.
I've never had an atheist attempt to convert me, but if one wanted to try why wouldn't you welcome the conversation? It would be the ideal opportunity to explain your beliefs to him and / or answer any questions. Of course if you can't do it from the Bible it doesn't carry much weight.
I could be wrong on this but I think most atheists are actually agnostic, not being completely closed to the idea of a Creator / Higher Being but needing convincing evidence. That's where a Christian's ability to use secular history along with the Bible to reason with them and vise versa to hear their reasons why they think there isn't one.
Anyway great video. Glad to see something positive this morning.

Car salesmen sell cars knowing they are trying to get as much from you as possible, hence the "jew down" practice customers use to combat that. Do the practices of both the car salesmen and the car buyer give you insight into their beliefs? Both could be great human beings while at the same time trying to "win" over the other. Not every thing a person does is indicative of the person they are as a whole. And everyone does things they hide with the intention of you not recognizing they are doing it. His just happens to be his job.

In other words, you have no fricking idea what you are talking about. His entire shtick is that he tells you that magic is bullshite.
