When a native to Louisiana finally leaves the state of Louisiana
quote:
This place outside of Louisiana is a nice town. It’s obvious there is money being spent to improve the lifestyle there. What I found ironic is that the quality of life there varies greatly from Louisiana. Also the demographics vary greatly from what one may expect to see at any Louisiana town. These folks are living large by selling basic necessities to ordinary folks.
I’m not mad at them, that’s business. It is extraordinary that they foster such a fine quality of life for those fortunate enough to get to work there. The other thing happening there is that the developers are demolishing older homes in fine shape to build large modern homes for these people.
The smell of money is in the air. This area is rated very highly for quality of life, I certainly now understand why.

Anyone else noticing the decline of Target stores? They don’t seem as nice and friendly as they were 15 or so years ago.
I honestly haven't been in Walmart or Target enough in the last 15 years to form an opinion.
Not sure if I am different than most the population, likely more average.
With online shopping I don't see the need to go through shopping for non-perishables.

My understanding is that many vendors who sell products to Wal Mart have offices there.
It's a pretty drive there through the mountains, and they have a decent regional airport near Fayetteville. It's probably not the most exciting place to live, but it definitely has its positive points.

They are one of the companies that can afford paying their associates much more. The more they pay, the better stores they’d have, IMO. They could be more selective in whom they’re hiring.
In small towns at least, I think they would end up getting the same workers just at a higher price.
There’s only so many people that want to work at WalMart.

The store on Millerville is nice since they remodeled it after the flood. It's leaps and bounds better than any Walmart around here.

True, but the Siegen location is awful

Walmart’s profit margin isn’t as nearly as high as you’d think. They wouldn’t afford to pay people more. I think I saw that for every 50 billion they bring in, only 1 billion of that is profit.

It used to be good. Then the apartments came...

Well where do you buy all your clothes and shoes then, or you don't try them on before you buy them?

Not Walmart or Target. Clothing stores or online clothing services that allow free returns and other services.

Sarcasm is hard on the internet...however they do have a lot of clothing items and Walmart won't keep a product around that doesn't sell. So someone must be buying that stuff.

Uhh, I live here, lots to do is an over-statement. It is booming tho. When you have 3 Fortune 100 companies in such proximity, growth is rarely stagnant, exception being 2008-2010. The DEMOGRAPHICS help ALOT! A good place to raise a family

It looks nice, but I would hate to be so far from a beach. I have a phobia for landlocked states for some reason.
