As someone who has a legit reason to use a handicap spot, I can tell you that there are those who somehow get handicap tags and use them when they clearly don't need them.
If you can get out and walk with no assistance and with no problem, having to walk from the middle of the parking lot isn't going to make a difference for you... Like people who will go to a store.. Have a handicap tag and say "I can't walk too far at one time" then go inside and walk around the store shopping.
For the record, I rather park in the back of the parking lot because I know people are too lazy and will not park on side of me where I let my ramp down.. Because a lot of idiots don't realize what the blue hash marks next to a handicap spot is supposed to me. To be fair, I also see people park in the pickup areas like at Walmart, Costco, etc.. A parking lot is a good measure of people's IQ. There the people who park in the normal available parking spots, then there are the idiots who can't think beyond themselves.
They don't have the mental capacity to stop and ask "why are these blue hash marks here? Not all the spots have blue hash marks so it must indicate something that doesn't apply to me.. But because there are a lot of stupid people, there needs to be something that prevents people to park there.
When it comes to demographics, the one thing I have noticed is that there are certain people who will park in the fire emergency area to drop someone off then just wait there until they are done.
But another problem is the amount of people who are able to get handicap parking passes. And people who will say something like "we still have a handicap tag from when my wife broke her foot that we still use".

I live in Rosemary Beach, so it’s mostly middle-aged white women trying to rush into the coffee shop.

I drive my elderly parents around on weekends and we keep their handicap tag in my car for the rare occasion we need it. They both use walkers and don’t move well at all. Even with that problem they have, I will still usually try to pull up close to the door of the place we are going (off to the side and not blocking traffic) and get them out and then I will go park in a regular spot. I would never ever consider parking in a handicap spot if it was just me with their tag.

As part of Houston Serves, ParkHouston trains volunteers to protect their communities and help make Houston more accessible by fighting disabled parking space abuse.
The ParkHouston Volunteer Enforcement Program certifies people to issue citations to cars illegally parked in ADA parking spaces. They make a significant impact as ambassadors for the program educating the public on the importance of the parking spaces for members of the disabled community to work, live and play. With the generous help of our volunteers, we have a greater ability to protect the quality of life for those who require ADA parking spaces.
Volunteers are required to attend a four-hour training session and pass a background check. Once complete, volunteers are empowered to issue citations within the Houston City limits to those who abuse disabled parking spaces.

At Lifetime Gym…. They all up in them. It’s like private reserved parking.

Looking for a close parking spot at a gym is maximum irony.

I was having lunch in a restaurant seated at a window where the nearest view outdoors was a handicapped parking spot occupied by a late model lifted 3/4 ton diesel pickup (probably 80K+). It did have the handicapped placard hanging from the rearview mirror. I was curious about who may be the handicapped driver of a vehicle of that sort. Before I finished my meal a guy wearing a Grambling t-shirt walked out and hopped up in it as easily as a 16-year old.

They must be showing forged docs from “Doctors”.

Very high quality counterfeit handicap tags are readily available within their community.
There was a time when law enforcement aggressively went after these sub humans.
Don't know why they stopped. Any LEO's here that can shed some light on this issue?

DEI is not prosecuted for handicap violations. Most get out of the car faster than me.

once saw a longhair shitkicker get taken down HARD by cops against the hood of his car for parking in one.
I've never even considered parking in one. I always park further away so I can leave w/o having to back out

Bank board chairman in my town does it all... the... time. He's in his early to mid 50s probably. No health issues at all.
People notice it.

One of the major hospitals I go to has a row in the parking garage of handicap spaces, it was always filled with security guards without tags. Someone who really needed it complained, it was fixed... for a couple of days. Magically all of the able bodied security guards got handicap hang tags... people suck.
