Arkansas has a diamond mine... and it's open to the public who want to hunt for their own diamonds.

Every so often when kayaking down the Holston River we see people panning for gold. They are very secretive about what they are doing, but their pans are very functional in their distinctive shape. We are many, many river miles from the Smokey Mountains where the rocks are more likely to have a few grams of gold per ton.
