Having lived in Louisiana, Florida, and Michigan too, they're all much, much worse than Tennessee's weather. Michigan's winters were brutal and the heat/humidity in Louisiana and Florida are ridiculous. Louisiana has the daily afternoon thunderstorm in the summer to make sure everything is wet and disgusting in the summer too.
I’ve lived in North Dakota and Houston Texas. Yes, these regions are harsher in particular months, but Middle TN is bad enough to be uncomfortable.

lousiana has NO peers for shitty weather, but for variation and ferocity try Kansas
85 and humid one day, sideways snow with 75mph winds and 3 ft accumulation 36 hours later - bipolar mother nature

3). Washington- Yes, it has 3 months of perfect weather, but does it really make up for remaining 9 of darkness and rain? There’s a reason this state is home to some dark things such as grunge rock, twilight, and The Ring!
PNW has some of the best weather. The best summers of anywhere in the country, but doesn't get miserable cold like the Upper Midwest or New England. The rain is hardly ever hard or continuous.
Virginia weather sucks. All the negatives of the North in the winter with miserable hot summers. Theres 4 nice weeks in the Fall and 4 nice weeks in the Spring.

5). Alaska- Alaska would be number 1, but it draws a specific crowd to the state. No one just up and says let’s move to Alaska
Most people that move to Alaska are running away from something in the lower states

Top 5
Then you listed seven different states and DC. Can you count?

I spent a summer in Seattle and people kept bringing up the nice sun. I told myself “what’s the big deal about a sunny day”. Then someone described to me the rest of the year.

When I moved to Houston I convinced myself the summer would be more dry heat than Louisiana. Nope, same nasty humidity but even hotter.

I love the PNW weather although it varies a lot depending on which side of the Cascades you are in WA.

West of I-35 (Austin/hill country) is considerably dryer than east of it.

I'll probably get downvoted a lot for saying this but one of my least favorite weather states is Florida. Most of the state has little to no seasonal change which I find unappealing.

Some combo of Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota.

I did
speaking on the topic of weather though.
it depends on what part of the state you are in.
in Anchorage? the only really shitty times are breakup in April/May. it's just gross outside. end of May through labor day? beautiful. its rainy like PNW towards end of september and through october, but much more fall like.
now in the SW part of the State? its nice from June - July, then its rainy, then its icy then its snowy and/or brutally cold and windy until April.
cant speak much for the Fairbanks area besides its brutally cold from November through March. but primarily a dry cold so not too bad.
SE AK? essentially an extension of the PNW with more moderate temps because the islands are influenced by marine env.

List is awful, Middle Tennessee is beautiful. Camped at Dale Hollow Lake for several years and the weather was fantastic

There are at least 2 Dakotas missing from this list

You’re out of your mind. DC has somewhat hot summers but not consistently and nothing too unbearable, overall that whole area has four very tolerable seasons with relatively long stretches of absolutely beautiful weather.
Edit: I grew up a couple hours south of there and used to think the winters were cold but now I live in Minnesota and let me tell you, 30s and 40s just aren’t that cold.

You're going to have heat, cold, floods, ice, snow, drought, tornadoes, wildfires, wind storms, hurricanes, haboobs, humidity, constant rain, etc. wherever the hell you go.
The "worst weather" is entirely subjective and relative.

Alabama is just as hot as Mississippi and is tied for the most F-5/EF-5 tornadoes in the country since 1950, so why aren’t we getting a shout out?
