Just passed a crash on the Pearl River Bridge at the State Line. Traffic backed up more than 6 miles.
Some chick hit the center barrier. Traffic down to one lane.
That is your Time Saver Traffic Report. Traffic Tips 260-INFO. I’m Don Ames.
Good luck getting back to Louisiana this afternoon.

Had to go the long way to get to my parents for Easter.
They also had two other crashes on i10 before we left after the Stennis exit going west bound.
Its like Mad Max world after you get past the BSL exit.
People go feral driving...and then the bridge just makes people lose their minds.
If Louisiana would get their shite together and fix the 90 bridges this shite would be more tolerable

Agree.
I would take more trips that way. Does Stennis still need water access? If not that could reduce the cost of needing a movable bridge.

Shocked! I’d bet 100-1 she was on her phone.

If only we could take Hwy 90
You could always drive up to Poplarville and come back on 59.
They should really put extra security at Stennis and let people go through there.

There was an 18 wheeler facing east on westbound side shoulder when I got through. Truck appears to have crossed over median; Hope no other vehicles were hit. LSP & large wrecker were parked with it too.

Again? Wasn’t there a wreck there yesterday?

It still amazes me that they let it get to the point of permanent closures being required. As much as I’m sure it came as a total shock to the geniuses at LaDOTD that metal bridges near salt water deteriorate after 100 years…they should’ve been planning for replacements 30 years ago.

I deleted WAZE in 2016 when I was traveling to NOLA a lot. A car pulled to the shoulder for a flat tire would be shown as a 30 minute stoppage. Then when the flooding happened it showed flood streets 3 days after they were drained and dry in Baton Rouge.

Why does Apple Maps have a Louisiana Border Crossing Station icon at the border with what looks like an officer raising hand to stop on westbound side of bridge?

That bridge is a menace
Uh, NO. The menace are people on their phones and aggressive A-hole truckers !

Priority one at a place where you don’t ever have to make a profit.

The big issue with all those bridges back then was that steel and concrete were cheap at the time.
Now everything has gotten so expensive, that every road or bridge construction project needs a federal match to build any large capital road project.
Plus the state made an error in tying gas prices to per gallon rates instead of adjusting for prices to create additional revenue. So while fuel economy grows less gas sells decreasing revenue. That is part of problem why there are billions in unmet needs in the state highway budget.
Also, the feds didn’t do any favors by slowing federal funding for the interstate highway system instead of keeping the federal match and allowing the match to be used for expansion and ongoing maintenance.
Bottom line we are fricked because of bad budget decisions that were made in the last 50 years and never came up with solutions fix our roads despite years of promises of a fix. Plus you add inflation, and now some of they projects are out of reach or would take emergency measures to fund.
