Coach Picou always seemed like a decent dude.

Yeah I was wondering why such turnover and if this is them returning to back to how it used to be or something else.

Now today, some more information. - Christa Leon will no longer serve as the Elementary Principal - Matt Picou has stepped down from his role as Dean of Students Anyone have thoughts?

Needed to be done. Matt is a very nice/good guy but there has been concern about discipline that hasn’t occurred, particularly the last couple of years. There are kids totally disrupting class, repeatedly, and the teachers weren’t getting the support needed. I’ve heard worse things too but I only have first hand knowledge of the disruptive students.

Also note the comments about finances and transparency. There’s lots of smoke around mismanagement of finances.

Way to Geaux, Kevin, supporting the support staff.
You reckon he fed someone some room service meals?

When are they supposed to be posting for all these jobs? It's February and 3 of their leadership are out, I would think they would advertise relatively soon.

When people say ULS suck it’s usually because they can’t get in.

Just to be clear- there's usually one characteristic that determines whether or not you can get into U-High and its how high up your dad is at LSU. The only exception is being good at football or basketball. It is a good school, don't get me wrong, but getting in has ZERO reflection on your 4 year old's competence, intelligence, or likelihood to succeed in life.

I think it all postings go through LSU and they take forever.

I hope they don’t rush this search and I really hope it gets taken out of the hands of the people who have done them before and into the hands of someone competent. They also need to keep anyone with the last name Temple far away.

Last time they presented candidates that didn’t inspire a lot of confidence and ignored requests to continue the search. They’re 0/3 since Wade left, and the 3 (Westbrook, Manthei [interim] and George) were complete failures and embarrassing for the school.

Lowered admission standards and more concerned with DEI. No discipline in the school. His administration does nothing all day. Pissed off a lot of alumni. Rumors he was sleeping with front office staff. Probably a lot more than I know

You get what you hire.

Seems we have a lot of these types managing more deserving candidates.

Same mo everywhere he goes, it is laughable and negligent how school systems let his reign of terror continue for so long. St John the Baptist is just 45 minutes away........Uhigh/LSU should have known.

Made a new identity to post a “I told you so” here.

Except you didn’t.

Thanks.

Probably so. The interim director is killing it so far. He actually cares about the school. I know of a couple kids coming back next school year.

I have a senior there. I haven't seen anyone in her grade being pulled out in the last few years. UHS gets a lot of hate... but it's been good for us. My child has a great group of friends and loves it. Transferred there in 10th grade and has loved it the whole time. I'm not defending the school or the administration, but it's been a good experience for us.

That's always been the plan for a lot of them. Some go through K-8 and then leave for Catholic or Saint Joe's for high school.

That's common with almost every school, kids deciding on different high schools, whether for academics, friends, or more than likely sports.
