NOLA is up there with Savannah and Charleston
Posted on 3/19/25 at 2:10 pm to P01135809
this list is absolutely retarded

Charleston was far more important 200+ years ago than it is now. Of course, if that's a criteria, Miami didn't happen even a century ago. But Galveston did.

While limited, that's a fair list. Really depends on what criteria they're using. My opinion excludes crime and ghettos.
Savannah and Charleston are great cities. Charming and historic.
Chicago's downtown (within the Loop) and the neighborhoods north of downtown are amazing...in the summer.
LA, Vegas, NOLA, and NYC are sh!tholes, plain and simple.
Boston is amazing and has everything, but the cold, rainy weather is brutal.
Miami (proper, including Miami Beach) is paradise with caveats.
San Diego is ok if you're in the Navy, Pac Beach is beautiful. San Fran is too congested, but I see the allure of Nob Hill and adjacent neighborhoods.
All the Texas cities are the same...marginal downtown, everything "fun" pushed to the suburbs.

Which, interestingly enough, makes it a nice place to live.
Good economy, clean for a big city, good climate, tons of outdoor activities within a couple hour radius. Vastly improved restaurant scene compared to when I moved here. Good local beer. I can do without hordes of tourists in the area I live.
My employer recently moved its Nashville office away from the Broadway area. It made recruiting tougher because people didn’t want to deal with that crap everyday

Charlotte is incredibly livable though. It has lots of parks, greenways, and events. It has an "ok" light rail system to get you to Uptown without having to drive down there. It has a huge airport that is an American hub.
Compare that to Charleston which is cramped, has mediocre schools, has an incredibly high cost of living vs available jobs, but it is very nice to visit with its beauty and nice food.

Agree or disagree?
Depends. Does “S” stand for shitty? If so, NYC and Miami checks out.

Nothing really wrong with it other than being super boring for a bigger city. No distinct culture, landmarks, food, geography, etc. to make it interesting or give a sense of place. Great breweries, though.

Which cities residents go to for vacation?

Portland is garbage. Shitty politics and weird arse people.
Posted on 3/19/25 at 7:08 pm to P01135809
I guess every other city doesn't exist
Posted on 3/19/25 at 7:55 pm to P01135809
This is such a dumb list. Theres zero criteria. Best city to live in? Best city to visit? Best city to eat in? I’m all for a fun debate on ranking places, but set some guidelines.
Posted on 3/19/25 at 8:43 pm to P01135809
I'll take places I don’t want to live for $1000, Alex.
Posted on 3/19/25 at 9:36 pm to P01135809
Wouldnt live in any of those places.
