Automobile consoles: Do we really need a tablet as a center console? It's unnecessarily complicated to do basic functions in new cars. My old man moment was recently being in a brand new rental car and not figuring out how to change the radio volume until day 2.

FFS do we need a phone app for everything?
How else are they going to collect data on you?

It’s like the new OS for phones. None of the changes I had experienced do anything. It’s like these guys need a job, and their solution was to move a search bar to the bottom of the screen instead of the top.

I do miss remembering channel numbers. Being able to hit 2 digits and it go straight to that channel in the blink of an eye.
Now with the streaming apps you have to navigate left, right, up, down a list.

BEHIND the steering wheel, like a trigger button.
With absolutely zero indicators of where it's located.

I'd settle for less user friendly in exchange for less intrusive ads on literally every internet connected page or app.

F no.
When we bought a family house that needed some kitchen appliances, my wife started talking about all these options - see through doors, wifi, this that the other...
F NO.
Ice maker. Absolutely no features of any kind built into the door. They are just there to break and cause problems and cost money. ZERO. I don't want anything to do with that bullshite.

I’m not old but I understand completely what you are saying.
Internet apps are the worst. Endless logins, UI changes, deleting features while adding complicated new ones, etc.
I can’t develop any muscle memory because of this shite, and it’s my job.

I have a 2025 truck and it has a volume control knob on it.

Wife’s friend left her BMW in front my boat when she and wife went to the Beach.
Took me an hour to figure out how to get into gear to move it

It's even worse nowadays, FFS do we need a phone app for everything?
One AI app will do everything

I’m tired of website redesigns
There are two business reasons for this:
- The marketing units have to act like they are doing something so they redesign it to look busy
- Customers figure out how to get through the maze and actually talk to someone, and they have to build a new maze to reduce calls.

Planned Obsolescence, I 120% agree with you but I wouldn't look for this to change anytime soon.

How about the version number for OS and even devices. iPhone 18 (or whatever the newest is) will eventually be iPhone 100. When does it end?
Mac OS Sonoma 14.8.2...blah blah. The numbers mean nothing and I'm not about to keep up with the names they've added.

Bruh we’re on Max OS 26 “Tahoe” or some shite like that. Keep up. This important update made your app buttons look like translucent glass. Very critical….

The other issue is the "featues" come with software glitches, cheaper parts and lower reliability. I have a freezer that is 43 years old, moved 4 times and just works. I want stuff like that.
Precisely why we coughed up the money for a Speed Queen washer when our unnecessarily hi-tech one went out. I wanted to take it outside and beat it with a bat a la "Office Space" style. Our dryer is on notice...

Maybe I'm just getting old, but the obsession of companies with being sleak and minimal, yet trying to offer endless options have led to products being unnecessarily complicated.
WTF does my dishwasher, washing machine, or dryer need to connect to the friggin WiFi?
