I have been called a leftist on the PT board numerous times
I have been called a Hamas supporter, a nazi, a commie, MAGA, never-trumper, etc

All in the last calendar year.

On the M/TV board I am generally called a libtard, woke, anti-woke, and MAGA . . .sometimes in the span of a single thread.

I would really like to know why Republicans are called 'maga/maga Republicans' rather than just Republicans.

Is there a difference?

I guess I get the 'magots' or whatever the left calls them since that's like calling someone a 'libtard'.

There is a discussion by the usual idiots. But it’s very far from being serious.

So your small mind isn’t capable of seeing all sides of what is going on in the world? Pitiful.

Or maybe we are too caught up in looking at all sides, that we don't have the energy or bandwidth to fricking fabricate new ones out of thin air

Appreciate the video.

This can be broken down a million and one ways and the result always comes back to social media absolutely fricking this society up.

But the worst part is we’re just letting it happen! We’re literally watching polite American society rot on the vine. We’re watching our kids face unprecedented social and moral tests beyond anything we, as parents, can comprehend. We’re watching families and friends literally end close relationships because of what the algorithms have done to them. It’s absolute fricking madness!!!! And to make matters worse, we don’t have politicians with the backbone to regulate the everloving frick out of these apps but instead USING the algorithms to further divides to secure votes.

Sorry folks, it’s on you, it’s on me, it’s on us to admit it’s poison and evangelize that fact to everyone you know. We always thought it would be weapons of war used to destroy America….turns out it’s algorithms. Don’t buy guns to protect yourselves, use words of wisdom to turn down the temperatures in your own circles.

I've been pushing this hard in my circles, have deleted almost all social media, and have been making a very solid point to not just automatically respond to people, but think things through.

I am and will continue purchasing firearms, ammo, and training though

I don't see how we stop it as it is. The only thing I think would really make an impact would be to hold the platforms liable for any content generated from the platform. This would kill the social-media version of the internet, these comment boards and anything that has individuals expressing anything on them. We'd go back to curated websites where the content was vetted by the site owners before they put it up.

I just don't see that happening.

I don't need to listen to that. Why do we need other people to help us form our own opinions? Whatever he had to say, it's not so different from social media.

I'm going to try to be neutral here: MAGA is a very populist, nationalist, and culturally conservative movement that favors a realist foreign policy. It's distinct from the dominant ideas of the Republican Party of the 2000's or the Reagan years, although there were strains of its anti-elitist themes as far back as the late 2000's.

MAGA doesn't seem distinct from general Republicanism today because practically everyone in the party who's publicly disagreed with MAGA thought has been sidelined over the past decade.

If you're a MAGA Republican and you disagree with this characterization, tell me why. I'm serious.

There is zero reason for anybody to have a serious discussion with you. Your brain is completely warped.

That's hilarious coming from you, and further proves how out of touch with reality you actually are.

Generally I agree but the necon Bush wing of the party did absolutely nothing for Americans while lining their own pockets. They let big business and pharma take control of the government and rightfully so lost control of the party.

Respectfully, I wasn't trying to communicate that there has been a great deal of continuity between pre and post Trump Republicanism, but rather the opposite.

I would imagine that most MAGA Republicans feel the same way that you do.
