Yep. Did 2 years before Covid BS started. Went down the rabbit hole for a while there but I'm back on the wagon
ETA: I listen to amazon prime music, and get my news from here and then go research stuff I want to further explore.

I haven't watched the news in over 20 years with the exception of impending large storms heading our way.
Even then I take them in with a grain of salt due to all the theatrics the reporters use to make things look way worse than they are.

Yep. I’ve not “tuned in” for a while. Maybe once a week I check online resources but it’s a cursory review. They say ignorance is bliss, so I’m blissfully ignorant to the “news”.

but I don't know how.
Here’s how: Turn it off

I’ve 99.9% cut off Facebook
I don’t watch local news
I have a Fox News on everyday until 2 as background noise, fixing to go back to music channels

Never watch the news. Mother and both in laws watch Foxnews religiously.
It's terrible. CNN is worse, but they're all terrible

Have any of you been successful in simply turning it off? Turning off the radio, the tv, twitter, etc, and living blissfully ignorant of all the bullshite?
Heck I even turned off the OT and more sports board too. Was mainly posting on the money and tech boards for a while.
Don't have fb/insta. And for the news I just look at the headlines just to stay generally informed
Gravitating back now that things are kind of cooling down.

I’ve unplugged from time to time. I found that if the news is important enough, you will find out. Someone will tell you. It makes life a little nicer.

I've been doing this for 2+ years now. It's great.
Now if only all the retards would keep politics on the goddamn poliboard, I'd be completely blissfully ignorant of all the bullshite that doesn't affect my life.
...but these retards just love sharing their outrage.

It's incredibly simple. Find some fact based stuff that you trust. I prefer to read medical studies and articles.
Take anything from any outlet with a grain salt, and if you look at opinion pieces and they make your blood boil, then just move the frick on.
And don't turn on cable news. It is all a cesspool.

I watch minimal news, and none of the political stuff that is so toxic, which it turns out is 95% of the news.
Posted on 7/29/20 at 8:29 pm to Slippy
I’ve shut down CNN and ESPN. Liberal evil trash.
Posted on 7/29/20 at 8:59 pm to Slippy
I do TD, Tucker, and sometimes Mark Levin. That’s it.

I am ready, but I don't know how.
Ween yourself. FNC doesn't run 24/7 Covid panicking "orange man bad" shite. I didn't know Portland was a thing until one of my Squad worshipping former classmates was whining on Facebook. Here's my routine:
- FNC Hemmer & Baier (watch one/both daily)...The Five is great if you just want to laugh at the liberal stupidity.
- CNN.com when I'm bored and want to see how much further left they've shifted since the last time I looked
- Twitter, limit how far down a rabbit hole you go down. Unless it's sports I only click 1 deep
- Facebook (Wait I have Facebook?), since their BLM bullshite feed button replaced "recent posts" Zuckerberg can go frick himself. I'm on there once or twice a week. My dad got one of the anti-conservative 30 day bans for not conforming to the BLM/SJW asskissing.
- Spend time you've saved from doing there above by reading through The OT. At least you'll get a laugh and there's just enough idiots to provide fresh liberal shite.
I haven't changed my radio listening at all. Aside from Sports talk I only listen to music... usually half id which is on my vehicle's hard drive.
I did all of the above without much thought. The OT has been a great place to post useful stuff that I used to post on FB. I've tried to watch The View and it's become damn near impossible, especially when Meghan isn't there. (There's gotta be an OTer with a screw lose who can rid us of the Sunny Joy problem. JUST JOKING SORTA.) I tuned in for Barry's crooked NSA bitch yesterday and for the safety of my TV I flipped the channel after her first segment.
You can't even read SI anymore...it only comes once a month and this month's was a swimsuit issue celebrating trannies (including 1 on the cover), old farts, and fat chicks. Society is fricked if the SJWs get ahold of Pornhub... I'm told it's another site where you can get a good laugh from the comments and see disgusting shite in some videos. I wouldn't know from personal viewing experience though.

TD??? I can't stand Tucker or Laura. Hannity and Breem are good. Any show with Gutfeld is entertaining (RIP Redeye). I'm really glad the queer from Ole Piss packed his shite and left. Hemmer is so much better.

great decision because it's all fake.
sure, there may be bits and pieces of truth here and there, but the vast majority of mainstream news is fake. it's all about television ratings (aka money) and population control.

Yes. This is how I did it:
I deleted all news apps on my phone. Local, state, national. Cut cable. Had a Roku and downloaded an app for local news North Dakota and Montana. Deleted all apps that gave me breaking news. If you’re on twitter unfollow everything and just follow the DOTD traffic slowdowns.
