I’d love to go back to the office.
Problem is that my current client isn’t going back to the office so there’s no point in me going there. I literally flew 2,000 miles out there to see them at their office and they couldn’t be bothered to drive 5 minutes to the office that week.
They don’t really get much done. It’s frustrating dealing with people who aren’t accustomed to delivering anything.

My takeaway from this thread, and the OT overall, is that the OT hates people who break into cars and steal but have no problem with those who steal from their employer. How do people steal from their employer? By goofing off while they should be working. Please, by all means, down vote me.

Offices are being added to unused portions of my building for people that work for home currently. They are being added because remote workers are looking for places to "go to work" as working from home isn't working well for them with the distractions.
They have been coming in on their own looking for a workspace.
This is in rural WI.

Yeah, I guess they’ll ask if our entire division (that is profitable every year) is really needed

Some of us get paid a salary to perform work, we aren’t all paid by the hour.

The only valid criticism for returning to the office is those who have long commutes to offices in big cities with bad traffic.
I serve clients in Kansas City, Denver, Portland, and Los Angeles. Those are the corporate headquarters of each client, there are facilities under each of these in multiple other locations (Kansas, Washington, Northern California, etc…). How would you propose that I be onsite for all of these at once? Or should they fly me to a new location every day of the week?

Internally, we use a custom-made development stack, including an internal issue-tracking tool. Luckily, the system I use, similar to the Jira application uses a dashboard system to report an issue with a product somewhere else in the company, or request a feature from some other team, and triages levels of criticality via mobile device notification and email when enabled. In 8 years, I can think of a handful of times I’ve had to work on a lingering project outside of normal business hours. It happens sometimes, but usually a rare occurrence. I’m definitely enjoying the hybrid experience where it will continue in perpetuity for the foreseeable future.

You really need to insert more corporatespeak into your post.

We have one vendor in Norway that gets off at 4 and their asses are done for the day. Try telling one of your typical plant supervisors we ain’t getting any support cause Norwegians don’t work late. They just can’t fathom a world where work gets left at work.

Shouldn't matter if you're producing

So, if salaried and watching golf in your underwear during working hours, with plenty of work to be done is somehow not fraudulent behavior? Just render unto your employer what they are due, and your family what they are due. It’s not that complicated.

I don't have much obligatory work, but if shite goes sideways, I have to problem solve or show up. I feel like I'm getting paid more for that aspect than any day to day drudgery.

So you are both sloths. Nice.

People need to get back to the office. Not everyone can work from home, but unfortunately, in today's society, if one person does it then everyone thinks they can do it. All WFH employees think they can't be replaced and that they will walk if made to go back. Some cases that may be true but other cases probably not. The market will soon tell us all the answers.

Maybe they need to evolve? I was in these environments for a decade, now I am in one where work does end at 5 PM and you can leave it at work. Ill address it at 8 am the next day.

The posters have said they don't have actual work to do a full 8 hours. They're salaried, so their responsibiliies are different than hourly folks.
You also post like you assume people in the office all work super duper hard and never slack off.

I thought you were bartending full time in Montana? Don’t you have a law degree?

I was working at a private club here, but I got tired of bartending (again) and took on another role.
