Surprised to learn such a restaurant in that area was still existing as recently as 2022.

I used to get the round the world pizza to-go occasionally, never ate inside. I always thought it was pretty damn good actually.

I wasn't aware so many disliked the pizza.

Definitely agree its overpriced for the business.

Wow. And they get access to the list of all those common canned goods used for their recipes too?

I’m sure the producers of the Netflix series Chef’s Table: Pizza are lamenting overlooking Fleur de Lis‘s arrogant prick owner (whatever his name is) and second guessing their selections of the greatest pizza chefs in the world. Why? Why did we overlook that arrogant prick from Baton Rouge whose pizza business is worth millions? MILLIONS!

He was even overlooked by the James Beard Foundation. But there are dozens of Baton Rougeans who know this closely guarded secret. DOZENS!

An Around the World was pretty damn good in the '80s.

When I first came to Baton Rouge in the late 90s everyone said I needed to try Fleur de Lis and La Fonda's...wow.

LaFonda's was a place with average Mexican food (decent for BR) and a steady crowd of day drinkers. It had strong arse drinks that convinced average looking married people it was a good idea to get a room at the Ten Flags Inn and screw around with each other. It had some epic Friday afternoon happy hours in the '80s as well.

Wut. Accepting credit cards isn't the same thing as a cashless society

Businesses not accepting credit cards in 2023 can get fricked

Maybe in the early 80s. Parents used to stop in occasionally after playing softball at BREC if I remember right. I was a kid though so cardboard with tomato sauce, cheese, and pepperoni would've been good.

You aren’t missing much. Heavily overrated between the quality of the pizza and the building being about a half-step above a crack house.

I have only good memories, and many of them. Friends, family, children , old girlfriends etc. I always loved the pizza and the cold beer in the small glasses. Why y’all all gotta hate like this?

That price is insane for that spot.

I remember seeing a Pizza place in New England with an Apartment on top for $1.5m. That seemed like a good price.
$4.5 I don't think Government st is worth that.

They are trying to use the brand / location of the restaurant as a reason to inflate the price.

Ask Sammy’s how that works with what used to be their Zachary location. shite’s been on the market for years without a sign of any interest.

A cash only business is a red flag for - engages in fraudulent practices. It even invites fraud by the employees. Food service employees are notorious for stealing from their employer and each other. Credit cards reduce that invitation for easy theft. Credit cards also make running a business easier because every transaction can be more easily recorded.

It’s disrespectful and inconvenient to customers because due to the numerous benefits associated with using credit cards, most logical thinking customers prefer to gain some form of monetary value with every transaction.

If you want to go back in time and to enjoy the freedom of a much less government controlled currency, then good luck with trading sticks and sharpened rocks in exchange for pizza.

Probably. I certainly know what one is now, and it compares favorable in my memory, but that's all it it, just a memory.
