You’ve got to remember this a Spike Lee joint.

Didn't see it, but did they talk about when Blancpage had to sleep on her decision to let the nation guard in or not?

The majority of deaths in Katrina were whites, many from Metairie Club Gardens
You have a link to that? Don't remember hearing of any deaths in MCG.

Well this wasn't the first time that a major hurricane hit New Orleans. There was a prior warning with hurricane Betsy.
The city and the state had time to prepare for the next hurricane after Betsy flooded parts of New Orleans and it appears that the city and the state slept on the job.

at BEST you can expect FEMA resources to arrive in about 96hrs
They were mobilized for Helene in short order. Pretty sure they were there the next day which was impressive.
Same for the Kerrville floods

Why we should even give a frick about any of the fricking government reliant retards that had no intentions to even attempt to try to help themselves is beyond me.
Yea man! Frick those stuck in charity hospital! How dare they get sick during such a time!

Katrina was 40 years later....
and Betsy only flooded from the Lower 9 down past Chalmette...
Katrina flooded 80% of the city, and power was out for longer than a month in some places. If the levees didn't fail, the city would've been fine, with just mostly wind damage to take of.

I mean, it's prety hard to take care of yourself when your entire neigborhood is flooded with water.

a complete failure from a local, state, and federal response

I met a man who was a surgeon at Oschner, he left his wife and two children home in MCG to stay on duty, they were still missing a week after Katrina. MCG was the hardest hit area of East Jefferson.
Katrina LA
Katrina MS
To summarize the deaths for LA & MS, Non-white (including Hispanic) 567, whites 569, virtually the same. If you watch the documentaries, you would think no white person got their pinky wet.

I know, it caught the flood that backed along Airline Dr. They tried to dam it at the parish line but it was too late, they finally got it dammed at Causeway and Airline. MCG basically got zero media attention.
According to the article you posted, they was one drowning death along Metairie Rd, which is weird, Metairie Rd didn't flood. However, my brother did work for Entergy at the time and was heading down Airline in a boat, he said there was a dead body floating, tied to the fence along the golf course.
Did they ever find the wife and kids?

My in-laws left the West bank days before and stayed with us in Houston. It was around two weeks before they were cleared to go home. They were fortunate they had a friend that put their fridge on the curb.

That’s what I get from every poor person who didn’t leave. I expected the government to save me and take care of me. Zero, personal responsibility to take care of myself.

I don't think so, I heard that the SUV in which they were trying to escape was found empty. Things were very hectic here in BR too, I lost contact with a lot of the people we assisted.
