This year I am toying with giving up drinking alcohol unless I am drinking with someone else.

Whoa this is what I give up! It's great for the reasons you said: it cuts out all non-"necessary" alcohol, encourages socialization, and should save money (depending on how social you get).

I’ll never understand the insecure non-religious poster feeling the need to post in an obvious religious topic.

I’m giving up alcohol like I do every year. It’s great timing to start cutting down and going hard in the gym before summer.

Even though I hardly drink (once a week, normally), I'm going to give up alcohol.

Going for cigars this year. Easy for people that hate them. I think I have the Mark Twain gene.

Caffeine and soft drinks. This is also due to finding out my blood pressure was 171/103 over the weekend.

I'm also gonna try alcohol, which will suck during crawfish season, but I've been a daily drinker for years now, and my liver needs a break. Plus it'll help with my smoking habit as the two go hand in hand.

Agree. Hardest part for me is giving up that end of the work day cocktail or glass of wine on the porch in nice spring weather. May need to start inviting the neighbors over.

Oh man, this would change nothing for me. Between happy hours and visits to my regular spots, friends I see all weekend every weekend, and husband who drinks.. I have to actively decide to cut back on alcohol when I want to.

Caffeine will be coupled with lengthy fasting to reduce a visceral fat problem I've begun to get under control.
The wretched cold weather made lengthy fasts much harder for me, that was a surprise, but I think I can manage a cold March now that I know it's a problem.
(Lengthy is 36-48 hours.) (and vegetable broth)

Every year i give up Bourbon, then about 2 weeks before Good Friday, I go bourbon hunting to find that year's first bottle back. It is pretty cool because I am not looking for price or name in a sense but more of profiles and quality. I love EH Taylor Small batch, but if has never been my first bottle back. Last year was Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit, the year before was JD SBBP Rye.

Per usual, ambitious goals to better myself

- All alcohol except wine
- Exercise > 50% of days
- Lose 15 pounds
- Quit dicking off on the internet
- Call my grandmother at least once a week
- track all metrics at the end of the day for review at the end of Lent
