when i was going through my DIV back in 2006 i methodically went in and deleted everything i had posted on here..thousands of posts then created a new profile a couple years later when i couldn't stay away from the TD crack. 
there wasn't anything 'bad' per se, i was just going through an ugly time and was paranoid anything i said could be used against me even if was just the amount of time i was spending in LSU baseball threads.
so maybe scruff has something similar going on in his personal life and just needed to step away.

I saw one time where he forgot to log out of his TSLG username once and made a couple posts in the Scruffy schtick. He played it off pretty good if I remember but he was definitely busted.

Pretty sure Scruffy is a doctor and was also engaged to be married. So maybe Scruffy got busy with work and marriage.

That could be it. He had to clean up and isn't scruffy anymore.
Plus, I think his bit fit in better in the old irreverent and carefree OT than the new 75% politics OT.
