Or I am not initially angry unless people are doing selfish and stupid things. Not paying attention at a left turn light because they are on their phones or whatever and causing a million people behind them not to be able to go when they should is a big trigger point. Trying to merge and an a-hole behind you cuts you off and passes you up before you can merge is another. Turning right on green when a person turning left has a green light but not an arrow and they try and go before you, etc. Not following the basic of traffic rules when I am trying to be courteous and just drive eventually will get me angry when I wasn't to start with.

As someone who does ride share as a side gig...dealing with the mistimed lights, horrendous drivers, and clueless pedestrians in an industry where time literally is money can make your mood sour very quickly.

Well. People coming to a complete stop on a major highway to make a right turn are a real problem. It’s okay to swing in at 15 mph.

Yep its just courtesy. If im turning Left into a subdivision on River Road and no ones coming towards me, I'll get in the Left lane before turning just so the cars behind me don't have to slow down.

For me it’s:
College drive
Blocking the box
Pulling out in front of me
Distracted sitting at a green light that just changed
Left lane campers
No blinker using MFs

If you aren’t passing someone, get the frick in the right lane. It’s a pretty easy concept.

While this is true, it is still not a reason to shoot someone.

A big part of the irritation the other driver experienced could have been brought on by how far away you were from making your turn when you began to decelerate. Honestly, you don't need to slow down to make your turn when you are still a quarter mile away.

People refusing to let other people merge, to the point they intentionally speed up to make it more difficult or refusing to yield when it’s not a good time to merge.

When you are on the ramp to merge into traffic, have you taken that length of ramp provided and used it to accelerate to the same speed as the traffic with which you intend to merge, or are you trying to enter highway traffic at a speed somewhere between 40 and 50 MPH when the highway traffic is at 65 or 70 MPH?

Do a little honest analysis of your driving habits before letting on that everyone else is an angry, irrational driver. It may be that the number of angry drivers you encounter could very well decline if you are conscientious and make an effort to avoid unnecessarily impeding the flow of traffic by slowing down too early to make a turn or by failing to reach a speed on the ramp that matches existing traffic in order to merge without causing others to have to hit the brakes.

I fully get what you're saying, because there are indeed plenty of folks that are simply aggressive asshats when they get behind the wheel, but I think they are a lot less common than you seem to believe.

You may want to save that in a file somewhere, you'll need it again for this same thread next week. Well said.

If only you angry drivers were half as defensive on the road as you are on a message board, we might not be having this conversation right now lol

You angry drivers? What emotion are you feeling to conclude I’m an angry driver? I never do shite like OP is bitching about. My driving experience is setting my dynamic cruise control and let technology slow me down when others in front of me do. Maybe I put my turn signal on and change lanes, maybe I stay in the lane and let technology reaccelerate when the woman or Asian driver gets out of the way.

A sign of anger is when you come to a message board to bitch about something you experienced even though you know everyone has only your POV to go by, and not a single person can do a damn thing to help your emotional instability over it.

A message board is not my therapy like it is for you emotionally unstable people who come here for that purpose. It’s my entertainment.

Mostly OTers pissed off because they can't legally drive 100 in the left lane.

You never know what someone else is going thru in life, so be careful how you react when confronted with one of these people. They could be.....

1. Under the influence
2. Having a bad day because of ?
3. Marital problems/family problems
4. Money problems
5. Health problems
6. Just a bad driver.
7. Mental problems
There are many more that I haven't mentioned. As you age you will start to see that you HAVE to adjust to these people and some days, YOU/WE are the problem. When you are pointing your finger, 3 fingers are pointing back at you.

I think many people get claustrophobic while driving in heavy traffic. That triggers the reactive mind to overtake and dump adrenaline into your bloodstream. It's a fight or flight response that can overwhelm folks without them realizing it. That's the only explanation I can come up with why a nun would flip someone off for cutting in front of them.
