I've often wondered this. One time there was this homeless looking dude at Chipotle who walked in thru the back door and I think that was his mission but I stared him down and he left without stealing anything - csb

When Taco Bell was the only late night joint, the line at 2 am was wrapped around.
We would play taco roulette. Id drive around and pull in front of the car waiting at the order screen...if they'd yell, I'd say they forgot my drink. So basically, I was gonna be served whatever they ordered.
After paying, would drive off and check the bag. Sometimes it was a huge order, sometimes it was a single burrito
Same outcome, but I paid

They should add food pickup boxes that require a QR code to open similar to those Amazon pickup boxes.

Door dash driver stole my Popeyes order too once but they just redid it for me.
A lot of places that used to have free for alls don’t anymore because people take other orders. Jersey Mikes is one, varies by location

No but I had a door dasher run off with a $300 bbq order.

I have wondered this. Usually the pick up is outside the employee area.

I’ve talked with a few employees at fast food type places. Yeah, people do just take them.

Had that same thought when I was young and broke but never did it becuase (a) its not right (b) more importantly you are taking someone else's specific lunch which would cause a massive inconvenience for that person, who would have to wait for the workers to figure it out and make another order.
Now if you get home and realize there are more foods in the bag than you ordered? Because the workers gave you more or the wrong order? That's free and clear. Of course you run the same risk of getting a smaller or worse order. Get home from McDonalds to a couple small grilled Mcchickens and bottles of water... bummer.

I've ordered on the app and picked up at Subway a few times. The first time or two I tried to let them I know I was picking up for Twenty, but they just sort of looked at me like, "Please just go; I'm busy restocking lettuce." Now I just grab and go, and they rarely even look up.

I ordered on the app and it occurred to me no employee there ever asks for a name or ID.
When Panda Express opened up near to us, that’s the way they did things at first… now they ask for a name then hand you the food. Guess they got a lot of orders snatched.

Subway
I place the order while on my way to Subway. When I get there it is not ready and in some half state of being made, jump in line of the Sandwich and they finish it.
Now I am maybe 5 minutes away from my local Subway, so I don’t give them enough time to make it.

Am I being profiled for having my shirt tucked in and wearing deodorant?
Yes. You are being profiled as being trustworthy enough to not steal other peoples' food. You should absolutely do something about that.

quote:A couple of times. I’ve also watched some low life’s shop the to go order section looking for something they might like. How do I know, it only takes a second to read what name it is. They are sitting there making sure it doesn’t have something they hate on it and then just walk out. It’s scum behavior and the low life’s will eventually screw it up for everyone.

Pretty much what I expect the answer to be. Most restaurants will work with the honor system until they get burned a few times. Then they will move/keep the orders behind the counter and make you tell them who you are or show them your order on the app.

I believe it. It’s a liberal destination.
