It happened after 9/11. It was a short period where we were united about one thing, revenge. It turned to shite quickly but the one thing people forget is when the American people are ready to get shite done, shite gets done.

That's a pretty good analogy, but you need to throw in an abusive drunk of a husband/father and a useless submissive wife/mother to represent our government.

There would be a huge divide in how we should respond, the loudest likely being the “retaliate group”, which would be the moronic choice.
Also, I do not see the USA coming together like we did after 9/11. We aren’t even remotely near that level of civility anymore.

You’re right it’s not on US soil but I hope that if Putin launches a nuke, Dems and Repubs could pull their heads out of their collective assholes long enough to address the actual threat that a world leader with nukes has gone insane and address it with a unified front.

Like 9/11? Where the dust hadn't even settled yet and Democrats were blaming Bush or America for bringing this on ourselves? That kind of patriotic unity? One half of our political landscape has taken over every facet of our society and culture indoctrinating our children from kindergarten on up that America is evil/sexist/racist/greedy/etc; yet, at a time of crisis is just going to reflexively jump to the defense of the red, white and blue? Color me skeptical.
I would bet that a good percentage of the purple-haired liberal arts major crowd would be actively and openly supporting our enemy (especially if it were the ChiComs).
