He looks like the big Indian from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but he sounds like Jeff Foxworthy. He has lived his entire life in Alabama.

There have been a few articles writtten about how often white folk claim Indian blood, usually an alleged grandma or great grandma who was a ""Cherokee Princess."

It's almost always bullshite. I'm not sure what the psychology is that makes white folk want to believe it so hard. If you suggested their grandma was black or Muslim they would Want to kill you, but they love them some injun blood,

My grandpa somewhere way down the line was quannah Parker. My grandmothers maiden name was Parker and we traced it back one day on ancestry

What if it didn't matter? What if we all just judged people by their actions rather than their genetics? Don't you think that all non-Jews deserve to be judged as individuals?

Sort of off topic, but General Stand Waite was a Cherokee general for the south during the civil war. In fact, he was the only native America general on either side. If there are statues of him, do SJW try and tear them down? Does his confederate service Trump his minority status?

My personal experience is that the trashier the white person is, the more likely they are to claim Native American as their ancestry. Non scientific, but pretty tried and true.

My grandmother on my Moms side was 1/2 Cherokee. I sure as hell don't claim I have engine in me. Now if the casinos would send me a monthly check, then I would claim it.

I unfortunately know I have Native American blood in me. Visited my grandmother on the reservation in Oklahoma when I was little in the 1970's. Back then reservations were not that nice. We even visited the one where her ancestors were from in North Carolina. Funny thing I never saw Elizabeth Warren there between the shacks and poverty.

I think it's pretty stupid for someone that looks like me to be touting a Native American Heritage.

I would think a good percentage of families that have been in the Southeastern U.S. for 200 years for some Native Americans in the Family Tree.

My Mother has 2 Siblings, out of 8,that are really dark and have jet black hair.

eta: Prime Time Money, that may be the funniest Post ever.

Probably. My GGG Grandfather married poor Cherokee girl in Ellijay, Ga in 1846. Only record I have ever found of her is on roll at a school for Indians in 1840. So my GGG grandmother and anything beyond her were Cherokee. Nothing special but cool to know if one is into genealogy.

This happened to us. My great grandmother looked like one of the pictures of a NA you seen in an encyclopedia. Her mother even more so. My grandmother and two of my aunts are darker completed and had jet black hair before going gray.

Turns out it's all Greek and Italian in origin and not NA.

The family lore is that my great grandmother on my dad's side was full Cherokee but I've got no idea if it's true. My aunts and uncles on that side have the look but I look exactly like all the other drunken Irishmen on my mom's side.
