1999Suzuki Intruder 1500.
First bike was a 1978 Honda 750-4.
The Honda Grom is cool for around campus but would be dangerous in heavy traffic. They top out at 60 mph so the interstate is not an option.

I started out with a ninja 250. At he time it was the best entry level bike. Enough power to have fun...not enough to launch ya too the moon.
I nearly died more times than I care to count in my short motorcycle phase. Confident I'd be dead or horribly maimed had I not wised up.
Final straw was cutting a deer damn near in half. The lower fairing had spiderwebbed and popped back into place with fur in all the little cracks. I literally had to shave it before I sold it.

I just looked up the grom...man it's pretty weak even for a beginner bike. That 125 will be screaming at 55mph
Same price you can get a ninja 250 with a 6 speed trans and 14k redline. Very manageable yet still fun.

I'm 66 and I have been riding since the late 70's. I don't commute on the bike anymore but did that quite a bit in the 70's. I ride because I simply love the experience.
My current ride is a Kawasaki Concours 14.....

If you haven't rode dirt bikes, I would say that currently nothing beats the Honda Rebel. Really damn good bike that you will not outgrow soon.

Don’t ride her much anymore. Too many cagers who think their phones are more important than piloting their 2-ton plus vehicles on the way to pick up Braxton from travel ball practice.
But she can still stretch your arms and pin your eyeballs back in their sockets
;)

“murdercycles”
Did 31 years ICU,without a doubt the most gruesome injuries we would see were those in motorcycle accidents.
Those driving without seat belts and going through the windshields were pretty bad also

I ride two old bikes. 93 Harley FXSTC and 99 Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird.
Grom is a great starter. I started on a Rupp Blackwidow. You ride like nobody can see you.
Forgot to say why I ride. It’s calming and serene. Reminds me of riding with my dad and brother. I like riding through the rural areas of Alabama. It’s kinda like therapy.

My prior bike was like an 06 Yamaha FJR (1300). Great bike. Freight train. They still make it basically the same...added a 6th gear and tech since then.
I feel like they redesigned the concours like the year after I got the FJR.
Honda kinda gave up on the ST.

yeah the C14 is more bike than I am pilot... as I am sure you know any bike has its unique shortcomings (which maybe a bit harsh a term to use) and the C14 is no exception but I have changed a few things on it and I have spent 12 hour days in the saddle..
I really like this bike!

2023 BMW F900R
1987 CR500R
1999 KDX 220
1996 KX 100
I kinda have an old 2 stroke fetish.
The BMW is an absolute joy to ride. It’s 10x more capable than I am. Just gotta be careful to not outride my ability.
Why? I love the art of the motorcycle.
Best beginner advice…NEVER even think about getting on a street bike without gloves, jacket, helemet, boots. NEVER. And I mean good stuff- Shoei, Arai, Alpinestars, etc.
You will lay it down at least once.

I've ridden for over 30 years with almost all of it on dirt, started at 7.
I had a brief stint of riding on the road, had a Honda CBR600RR. Sold it and built a wild supermoto that I intended to race until the series fell apart, so I rode it on the streets for a bit until I sold it.
I realized I was going to end up dead or in jail at no fault of my own. People are freaking stupid and can't drive.
If I were to ever get another street legal bike, it would probably be either a KTM Adventure or Honda Africa Twin. I think it would be a lot of run to ride mountain roads.

Nice work on the Road Glide. I like how the dark paint lines flow from the fairing to the saddlebags and it sits like a low rider.
Bet you're scraping some parts if hard cornering and can't come close to using the "Chicken Strips"
.

I bought a new CBR f4i for my first bike. Had it for four years in the early 2000s. Had too many close calls with idiot drivers. I sold it because I put family and health first
I enjoyed having it and riding with my friends tho*
