The Democrats in Congress defunded South Vietnam, and barred aid.

We lost the Vietnam War for the same reason we lost the Afghanistan war.

It simply wasn't winnable.

We've wasted too many American lives in Asia.

Every war is winnable, the issue was we weren’t willing to do what it took to “win”

And haven’t been since 1945

apparently not many here are old enough to get the Back to School references scattered in this thread. Allow me to enlighten the rest of you.

We didn’t really lose it, we jumped into it and half assed it and then quit.

The war was unwinnable from the get go but LBJ wanted to avoid complete humiliation. Also, the US could never invade North Vietnam out of fear of Chinese intervention similar to Korea.

This.

Couldn’t bomb Hanoi or N VietNam without special permission from President only for short durations.

High value targets not approved to be hit.

Couldn’t fight in Cambodia giving the enemy free sanctuary, wasn’t a war - was a police action conducted by the military with one hand tied behind back.

I’d they went all in it to win it wouldn’t have lasted as long and could have been over before all remaining public support completely eroded.

Then China and the USSR intervene and you have a super power and a regional power involved in the conflict.

Corrupt politicians, greedy defense corporations, cowardly draft dodgers & colleges full of "woke" establishment haters!
Did I miss anything or anyone? Oh, yeah...and stupid un-American celebrities like Hanoi Jane Fonda!

Don't blame them, seeing how politicized the war became. It was never our war to fight.

Go tell that to the families who have the names of their sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands & wives etched on the wall in D.C.
Their country called and they went...
And tell it to the many who went and returned to a nation that showed no appreciation for their sacrifices. The many who are still haunted to this day by things they have seen or did. Politics aside, they are the true Heroes!
