Because, unlike the generation before us, the Boomers, and the two after us, the millennials and zoomers, we’re not a bunch of self-consumed, attention seeking, narcissists who think the world owes us anything and must pay us attention and reality must bend to our whims. Instead we’re pragmatic, logic driven, and just want to live our lives going about our business, and take care of what is ours.
Yes, I can tell this is true by the incessant posting on Facebook.
Gen X is the group that fills social media feeds with radical political ideology. I’m willing to bet the majority of the Poli Board are Gen Xers.
My hypothesis is that Gen X came of age during the Reagan administration, so they expected life to be as easy and carefree as the 1980s. Once that reality crashed, it bothered them but they never faced any real adversity to know how to fix it. So they bitch post on message boards and Facebook as their act of resistance.

I bet this was posted by a bitch made, bearded Millennial.

Not accurate. As a generation X, I’m really just sad to see what this country has become. From what our society was in the 70s and 80s, to what it is now is just truly disheartening. Millennials, generation Z don’t get it. Just sucks for our country as a whole.

Basically, the United States of America is in a societal decline, much like the Roman empire, but at an accelerated rate.

Who voted for all the politicians and set all the business practices?

Generation X is smaller population wise than the boomers and millennials. Typically they voted more conservatively.

I’m going to try to sneak this in here:
Gen-Xer Ron DeSantis for President.
Save America from Boomers who should have retired 10 years ago.

I got a lot more shite done before Windows 95 showed up.
Windows was commercial available in the 80s but v3 came in 1990 and most Gen X would still be in their early to mid 20s at that time. Still using dialup unless you were lucky enough to work some place that was already connected to the internet.
Gen X kids raised each other and ourselves where as millennials were influenced more by social media. Most of us moved out of our parents house when we were still teens and started our carriers by our early 20s. Owned houses by our mid to late 20s and starting families.

Gen X is a relatively small age cohort sandwiched between two of the largest and most self-centered generations in the history of humankind. Hope that helps you answer your own question for 1. who voted for the past and current crop of politicians and 2. Who set up the business laws and practices favoring existing businesses and establishing barriers to entry for competitors once established.

Yeah, little did we know that idiot Millennials and now Zoomers would team with Boomers to elect more and more radical leftists and turn this country and it’s culture into a shithole.

Gen X’s “self-centered”-ness manifests in their “woe is me I have no control everything happens to me” apathy. Is Gen X a smaller generation? Sure. But it’s not that much smaller.
That’s 65 million Americans who want tacit absolution for the apathy that is not only their hallmark, but something they use as a point of pride.

Gen X just likes to bitch about all the other generations.
Probably our lack of ever doing anything notable

As mentioned earlier by some of the more sane posters in this thread- lumping people together by generation is colossally dumb.. i am Gen X and there are millions upon millions of Gen Xers that i have almost nothing in common with besides the fact that we were born within the same decade and a half of American history… Just stop .
Posted on 5/28/23 at 7:36 pm to Richard Grayson
Nothing like a GenX post to bring the boomers and millennials out to make the discussion all about them and how awesome they are.
Biggest bunch of self centered shits on the planet.

Hell, I don't recall GenX ever really being associated victimhood

born in 81 so part of the "xennial" group.
i like my group. grew up without a lot of tech but came into age with it.
grew up looking up to gen x folks who were generally hard working so adopted that trait while being able to adapt to new tech and culture changes relatively easy.
anyway i dont get caught up in this generational warfare but......id prefer not to be called a millennial.
