I think powerball is up to $245M at the moment, i'm sure we'll see more of these threads

That's a big score! I buy scratch offs for every white elephant exchange that I have to participate in. Probably 10-15x over the years. They usually scratch them off right after the exchange and I don't think anyone has ever won more than $50.

No. It was a Christmas gift to her. It was given to her. ITs her money.
So?
Just seems kinda dumb to forego the goodwill and it doesn't cost a penny of money you earned.

She's rich enough to brag on the OT now.

Depends on who gave me the ticket.
In most cases, I would share as she has done. Probably not with my Dad who wouldn't ask to share or expect to share, but I would with the cousin. Especially if we were close.

Great news. She can now get that long-awaited dental work done.

I absolutely would share. I’m just one of those people who believe in good vibes, karma and doing what’s right. If I was greedy and kept it all, I would expect that to bite me somewhere down the road.

Is it $500k now or $500k annuity?
$500k after taxes - let's call it $330k - cousin and dad could get $15k or maybe I just pop for a really nice vacation.
Annuity $25k per a year for 20 years let's say cash option $300k I walk after taxes $200k. I can do $5k for buyer and dad. They store clerk is in their own

Never scratch the tickets at the white elephant party.
That’s rule 1.

That's like $275,000 after taxes. I might throw $10K at Dad and the cousin as a thanks.

I almost look at it as a rite of passage at this point.
Everyone, when/if peak output is really really good and you are in that great financial freedom flow you should share when you rake easy money. At this point you know how good you are with your money and you just collected again so I am more inclined to share now.

I can understand why she would share.

I'd split 10-15% of the after tax winning with Dad and Cousin
