Congratulations Rust. Nice buck. We saw nothing but did have a small buck and some does at other stands this morning. Will be back after them this evening.

I’m the same way. Alot of times I’ll take my pocket knife out and slice the wrapper open.

I really like the kids Cliff Zbars (iced oatmeal in particular).

I’d like to see a study on the impact of taking a big dump in the woods and how deer react.

I’m loading up and gonna set up in a spot I scouted but haven’t hunted yet. It was a good late season spot last year with bucks and does, so I’m hopeful I’ll see something today. It’s on the edge of a pine thicket, oak transition, and thick bedding. Maybe I’ll break my 4-hunt skunk streak (not seeing deer from the tree, but I have seen them on the way out).

I’m feeling the grind but just can’t stay away.

We need a scientific experiment on does a wrapper scare a deer. I opens my cliff bar yesterday like a scene from mission impossible and it took 3 mins.
A lil while later a squirrel was carrying a dried magnolia leaf up to his nest and it made the most awful racket you have ever heard as is scraped the whole way up.
More noise than a whole box of lil Debbie

I've done a few experiments this year. Results so far:
-Turkeys don't hear anything and apparently don't care about the smell of my urine. I pissed from the stand 80 yards upwind of them, they didn't flinch and ended up moseying my way after. The sound of it landing in dry leaves apparently doesn't carry far.
-Deer are equally unfazed by my urine, three so far this year come from downwind of me after doing my business.
-The deer can hear me but if I don't move they don't seem to care. Had to clear my throat yesterday while the one was prowling, he looked up but carried on after not seeing anything moving.

I don't think the wrapper noise matters, sounds a lot like leaves and that type of sound doesn't carry far.

Dude ive pissd off stand my whole life. Spit wintergreen off stand whole life. Had deer walk up n sniff it. Dont gaf. I was climbn into my box stand 2 days ago. Door wide open. Deer walked put 40yds from me. Now it was young doe, but looked up at me. Door wide open, kept eating. I shut, latched doors, amd opend windows. She stayed there whole time. Now id imagine a mature deer be little diff ha.

Saddle in the same hardwoods I killed an 8pt opening day of rifle. I don’t 100% like the set up today but I was rushed for time so I guess we will see how it plays out

4Jr and I are in a box stand on the edge of a field and crp. He’s got his 7-08 ready to pop a buck that’s bigger than his younger brother’s 5pt killed here last month. Little brother didn’t make this trip for a reason!

Frosted Blueberry Poptarts and cheese and peanut butter crackers are my staples. Public service announcement, the Poptarts come packaged in what appears to be foil, but the melt point is way lower than the top of Mr. Buddy. Or so I hear

I saw one small spike skip across the field this morning, meanwhile, the stand closest to the camp had 7 does hanging out, starting about 20 minutes after I passed. They’ve been ahead of me all week.
