Usually I’m GTG before/during the bow shot. Normally only a bit nervous afterwords if not certain about the shot
Couple years ago I had a big un (140- inch) come in trailing a doe. Stopped twice and shredded saplings to the point of ripping a small one out of the ground. By the time he was about to walk into a shooting window at 25 yds I had evidently become a mound of quaking jelly since my bow hand was shaking so hard it was bouncing the arrow all over the rest.
Told myself to chill, took a deep breath and drew as he walked into the opening. Good hit , watched him run off and sat down to keep from shaking myself out of the climber as the “fever” came back.
Recovered the buck the following morning but still laugh how he caused me to come unglued that November afternoon.

I agree with the doe thing.....you watch for an hour and talk yourself into taking a shot and its just as good.....man that feeling is great....especially if you're shaking.

3. Shooting a deer
4. First cold snap and gumbo
5. driving to the camp for the first hunt of the year
6. waking up the woods with a locator call during turkey season.
7. Putting on warm underwear straight from the dryer
8. Climbing into a bed with clean sheets
this is what life is about!

I didn't have it for a while. I don't really hunt a big buck area. Mostly hunt for food and piece of mind. Then one day a young deer but a nice rack too me popped out and it hit me hard. Something about seeing the unexpected got me.

Had a Buck come by me yesterday morning at 25 yards. I stood up and scoped him out and he walked 5 ft. into a thicket.
No real shot.
Sat down to text my Pard in his stand and my hands were shaking so bad I could not even text.
Been hunting about 50 years now and I still got the Drive..

I haven't gotten it the past 2 seasons, so I'm taking this season off and just stocking up the freezer with fish instead of venison.
It's probably because I hunt by myself and it's just not as much fun as it used to be. I hate typing that, but it's true.

I hunt by myself 99% of the time, and I’m the exact opposite, last 3 years, I have be eat up with it. Started this week on vacation, and planning to call them tomorrow, and take next week also.
We’re right in the beginning of the rut, and have seen 30+ deer so far, this week.

Have killed a small hill of deer over the decades. I still get it but I've got control of it till after the shot. All bets are off then.
I will say, hunting for ten years in south or west Texas changed how my adrenaline fires with whitetails. You don't get excited out there like you do in Louisiana. But once you've done that, Louisiana intensity goes way down as you begin to recall it to control the adrenaline. You don't even fire it till you're done really.

I had someone recommended to not look at the buck’s rack other than a quick glance to decide if he’s big enough. After the glance and you decide he’s the one, don’t look at the rack again, instead focus on looking at some other part of the body. It won’t completely get rid of the fever, but it seems to help me stay more calm.
