Have a friend of mine ( not on TD) thinking about doing a simple event with An open and hunter division.

“Golf with a bow and arrow” is what I always called it.

Don’t hesitate to try it but be forewarned….. it’s VERY addicting!

Seriously it’s a great way to learn to judge yardage, shot angles and arrow flight. I started doing the tourneys in ‘92 and shot them for almost 15 yrs.

Great fun and you meet some great people so don’t think twice. Go give it a shot

I recall shooting one at the pits back in the 90’s. Had a 62 yard elk downhill, we all overshot it.

They are a lot of fun, yes it is similar to playing golf, but shooting bows, i used to shoot them pretty regular.

You can compete in all the different divisions depending on skill- or you can just pay your entry, walk the course with a buddy, use a range finder, have fun shooting and not turn in a score or anything. Where else do you get to walk in the woods and take 30 different archery shots at different angles, targets etc.

My kids love them because you get to shoot cool stuff- bigfoot, leopard, dinosaur target, etc.

Just make sure you have an iron deer station, nothing like watching a 10$ arrow blow up while 30-40 people stand and watch you shoot it.

Is there enough demand for an event near the Baton Rouge area ?

Went to one with Barack and Hillary warm up targets. There was a lot of spectators, gawking, AND arrows slung that day.

It's been a long time but they were certainly fun.

Man I don’t have a clue. I can’t imagine walking a course shooting right now in this heat. I have been slinging arrows almost every other day or so since June and I’m soaked even at 6-7pm.
I’m sure like most things quality of the event and cost will be the deciding factor.
