If you’d read past the first post you would see that someone did contact him and he was cool about it. So, no, we shouldn’t do that.

I’m not sure how things work in Louisiana on public land, but most other states, if you put a blind on public land, anyone can use it.

It’s the risk you take, personally I’d call the guy and try to talk to him like an adult, maybe he will understand or maybe you guys can hunt it together, or maybe he’s just going to be a dick and make it a boat race to the blind, but again, that’s the risk you take on public land.

OP and his son bogarted someone else’s blind LOL. If there’s poles there etc it’s a blind, they didn’t appear there by magic. Yes it’s fair game but that’s not how the duck hunting social contract works. Find another spot

Bad advice... you'll ruin your hunt and make an enemy that might be stupid and crazy enough to shoot you. Call the guy and see if y'all can work it out Was there any sign of a previous blind being there when you started to build?
I'm sure there'll be days when you both won't be hunting there. Is it that awesome of a spot?

Read the thread. The poles and some rotted osb flooring was the only thing present.

That’s what is supposed to happen but it never does. Some folks are cool with you using their blind if they aren’t there. Some may even let you stay and hunt with them if you are there when they show up But if you try and beat the blind “owner” there and smart off to him it usually ends badly

Especially catahoula lake. The game wardens want no place in that shite show there Many of them have their main blind with satellite blinds around it. The satellite blinds are crap blinds they don’t brush up but they put them there so no one else builds one nearby.

And don’t build one anywhere close to another blind. They magically catch on fire every single time.

The displaced catahoula dirt bags are trying to pull their crap on the wma's they are being displaced to. We never had anyone building even legal blinds where I hunt. Now these jack offs are trying to claim spots guys have boat blind hunted for 30 years with bamboo eye sores they call a blind. We tear them down or just run em over.

Encourage him to get a college education or learn a trade. Then he can afford a lease and avoid this BS

He didnt say you couldnt hunt there. He might be wanting to team up to alternate dates and try to keep others out. Outlaws usually dont leave a number.

My entire reason for duck hunting is to get out of the house and watch the sun rise over a body of water....seeing ducks flying is a plus, having some work is incredible and shooting a few is icing on what has already been a damned tasty cake.

This is what I miss most about hunting. I was a partner on a small lease near Willow Lake south of Lake Chuck. 20 minutes from house in town to blind. Even when nothing was flying on a blue bird day, staying to 10AM to watch the sky have roseate spoonbills flying from south to north across the horizon always made my day. The overgrown pasture on the north end finally without water at the roots to get a good burn on it in Feb 2000, then I moved to Baton Rouge. They limited on teal that year, twice a day with nice little shoots of grass in 1/2" or so of water. BTW, also burned about 100 pr so acres to the east of pasture and the landowner was happy about having new grass for his cattle.

I grew up hunting on the west side of Vinton, where we lived then. I shot more nutria by far than ducks. The farmer paid me 50 cents for each nutria.
