What is our favorite kayak hoist for storing in the garage? I have ordered one but now I'm doubting the purchase and am already planning to need a better one.

I used to use wall mounts, but it wouldn't be practical with the large fishing kayaks today.

I'm old OB enough to have thought his was going to be a pic of a fish being hoisted, in a kayak, with feet in pic.

If I was making one- I would buy a cheap electric winch from harbor freight, and put a pulley on ceiling, build a cradle, and do that.

We did similar at our camp to pull a Jon boat and kayak up out of the water.

I have a couple Tie Boss pulleys in my backyard for a garden shelf. I remember they were marketing their kayak hoist system super aggressively 2 years ago when I purchased. I also remember them being pretty pricy but I looked past that as they are Made in America.

Having said that, there are probably 30 different brands available on amazon or you can take a trip to the hardware store to get some pulleys and 1/4" rope and DIY in an hour or so. I don't have a kayak so no real help. I will say that I converted the garden shelf into a tie boss block and tackle (weighed 300ish lbs when full of potted plants) and it still looks/works like the day I bought it.

I’ve got four eye bolts (2 front/2back) screwed into the ceiling joists and two cam buckle straps as a cradle that snug my kayak right up to the ceiling.

I have to work each side a little at a time to get them up to the ceiling but it works. If I used the kayak frequently it would be a PITA.

I've had these so long I can't remember where I got them.

That’s my method as well.
