Nocturnal deer…

Just south of Natchez with less than 1% of pics in daylight. Seeing a few Does and zero Bucks while hunting woods and food plots. Anybody have a cure besides a headlight or thermal?

There’s no cure for it. They’ll daylight when the rut kicks in. All you can really do besides that is minimize your activity around the area and stop feeding corn.

Turned off the feeders Wednesday

Where are your cameras? If your cameras are on fields and feeders that’s a big issue with getting better pics during shooting hours. Need to move the cameras on trails and next to bedding areas for a better chance of daylight pics.

Green browse has lasted longer this fall due to the lack of freezing temperatures. We need the leaves off the trees and the food to become more scarce to consistently see deer.
Deer relate to cover much like bass do. Get tight to cover, but where you still can get off a shot.

When feeding corn ain't enough, use nightvision and a supressor and don't post any pics on social media.

I hunt no matter what my camera is showing.
The dont know how many times I’ve seen deer walk behind the tree with a cam on it.

They’re moving in the daylight somewhere.
In my experience hunting a couple different places (one of which has always been as you describe), when the deer know they’re being hunted, you won’t see them in the daylight. Our place is in the hills — the wind swirls badly. Primary access is through the interior, despite having good quality bedding cover. Won’t see a buck feeding and acting naturally unless it’s the first couple hunts. Other places I hunt with perimeter access, consistent wind, where we manage pressure and the deer act completely different.

They dont do that crap in Kansas and other large MidWest whitetail states....the South seems to be more affected....

So much more cover in the southern states. That’s why Midwest has more daylight pics. Also large Ag fields so thus more sightings. When we hunt ducks in Oklahoma not much water so they come to tanks as well.

They are on their feet in daylight somewhere….. just not where your cameras are. Use the cameras to track them back and you will find them.

Hounds can cure it

Best thing I’ve figured out is to play the elements. I use DeerCast and it spells out the best days to hunt. I really thought it was pseudo science, BS but I honestly can’t remember the last time I went out and didn’t see deer. Any days that are “poor” or “bad”, I usually don’t hunt unless it’s very, very early in the bow season.
I know that’s tough for some people’s schedules but it’s worked for me.

Throw cameras in garbage!
Don’t hunt stands on wrong wind (also think of falling thermals in evening)
Give your place a rest for 2 weeks (addition by subtraction)
Bucks are still bachelored up (for us anyway)
Get out of usual box stands and plots and hunt different areas
Studies have shown that deer aren’t nocturnal, don’t be lazy and wait for deer to go to you, you go to the deer
Seriously I’d give it a break for about 2 weeks. Go hunt some public or a buddies place while giving your area a break.

Studies have shown that deer aren’t nocturnal, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be standing in a wide open green field in daylight. If that deer is walking around an 8 year old cutover in daylight, they might as well be nocturnal.
On our daily threads, often see hunters check in for a morning hunt on a green field with a feeder. There could be many reasons why that’s the best stand choice that morning, but it screams overhunting that stand to me. Also, I think feeders and box stands encourage hunters to go there during the wrong wind because the stand is comfortable and they have a feeder there.
An old deer killing hunting buddy always said pressure is human scent in the woods. The way to view a property is where and when is this human scent going.

I don’t disagree with what you said but if he’s up and walking in a clearcut durning the day, he’s not nocturnal. I get it, he’s in a place no sane human will walk into to hunt but……if someone does and kills him then there’s that.
Go to the deer, stop waiting on deer to go to you. Now you can’t do that everyday in same area and if you are limited on area to hunt them do it when conditions are right.
Kinda like the saying “there are fisherman and men who fish”

Service here is bad so I can’t find the link.
Google qdma/miss state deer gps study and Carolina gps deer study.
It will probably change how you view deer hunting.
Basically mature bucks and even does respond to pressure and for every hour spent on a stand it takes days for the deer to go back to moving by that stand. The deer were still moving just avoiding that stand site. Also any spot that you can throw a tennis ball and see if land mature bucks would not daylight in those areas. Sounds easy just bounce around and hunt thick stuff lol.
