not a fan of a pure "truck gun" and I always have a sidearm on my hip

BUT, I do have an underseat safe for some things I can't wear and/or take into certain locations; but they never stay in there overnight even though the truck stays garaged

Tuffy truck safe

not my pic, just example photo

My Canik MC9 is my carry gun and thus my truck gun. I have a center console safe. Foolish to leave a gun in a car that isn’t locked. I know console safes can be pried open but at least make it hard for the thief.

I do have a Taurus PT92 9mm in my locked console compartment. When I get my CC holster I will be packing a S&W M&P 9mm Shield. Back a while back I read where several posters also kept either rifle or a shotgun. This is the reason for my post.

Both less than $300 pistols. Why does everyone keep cheap guns as truck guns? Is it in case they get stolen?

So they can use the extra money on a tuffy or console vault!

FWIW my “truck gun” cost me ~$2,500. But it wouldn’t matter what it cost… it would never permanently live there.

I just keep the truck gun on top of the center console arm rest. I put a sticker on it that reads "If found, please return to______"

Am I doing it right?

Old 870 Tactical with Magpul stock (need all the spacers, I'm 6'5") and a couple of Esstac 5-round shotgun cards in/around BR. First-gen Mossberg MVP 5.56 with a 3x9 Leupold and a couple of 20-rd AR mags when I travel North or during hunting season.

Installed a center console safe.
Handguns, backup cash, credit cards, I.D.'s, keys, spensive sunglasses, powerbanks, backup cell phone... etc.. all go in the safe.
The combination is the last 4 digits of my childhood home phone number.
Good Luck

Memphis north?
G20 4 full mags just in case, 50 extra just in case in case.
Keep in the door with a koosie on the grip so it’s incongnishision. Live in a very safe area and used to not lock doors at circle k but do now.

Carry guns on you.

Truck guns under a rear seat. Locked. Not loaded.

Cheap and reliable in case it gets stolen, you're not out a ton.

No red dots. Only LPVO/prism or iron/non electronic sights.

16", so no sketching laws/regs.

Sleeve cover over it.

No sling. Extra mag. 77/75g OTM that police/FBI use. No 62g green tips. 55g FMJ better than 62g.

Carry holster between seats when you drive. On you when you get out.

Carry ammo - stay with widely used FBI/Police HPs (federal Leo 124, gold dot, etc)

Familiarize yourself with the weapon or platform. Min 200-300 rds on the range with it to familiarize with the optics/sights for distance/zero.

Oh yeah, and a G17 with irons somewhere else in the car is never a bad idea, either.

1 on you. 1 truck gun. 1 extra.

My friend keeps an AR15 locked in a compartment in his truck. I never saw a need to have a long gun with me. In some world I suppose I might need to pull over and shoot an animal or engage in a firefight but it’s not my world. Nothing wrong with doing it but doesn’t seem very necessary.

Are you required to go through a metal detector upon entering your place of work?

There's nothing wrong with dots and back up irons if it's a duty grade optic.
