Keep the water moving. It costs a fortune to pump water essentially 24/7 for several weeks, hell even months sometimes, but people will do it for their ducks.

As it should be.

You are right, water is already low and this front that's coming is gonna empty every marsh south of i-10. We talked last night about where our deepest places where and gonna hunt those spots first. We have put out 2000 lbs of various feed over last couple weeks to hold some ducks if they show up. Last night very little movement on either feed spot which is absolutely crazy for mid January

I'm guessing this is legal during the splits, but can't be shot over?

Hammer covered 70 miles round trip today ran upriver downriver and everywhere in between. Absolutely disgusted fewest birds I’ve ever seen down here. You’re not missing anything. We are being lied to about the duck population 1000%.

It’s over for SELA outside of teal, late season dogs and small pockets of grays.

I have to agree. Myself and buddies have covered land from TX/NM/CO borders to TX/OK/AR past 2 days. There’s enough birds to make a good gumbo for 8-10, but not much more than that. What’s got us puzzled is the huge decline from last year. Granted I only have the last two seasons to compare it to in my area (TX panhandle) but it’s a sharp decline.

Opening day of west zone third split with an "artic vortex" headed our way and......................................................................nothing.

Hunted past 2 days in Gueydan. No birds. Saw maybe 40 ducks total. I want to finish out the year but at this point it’s probably just wasting my time

I hope that it does.
One of my most memorable "goose hunts" that I ever made was January 12, 1997. A buddy of mine and I met up with two other invitees and the guide met at Chesson's Grocery located on LA 27 in Cameron Parish. We drove our trucks close to a pit blind about one mile west on property that is now identified as Crain Brothers. The "guide" provided by the contractor who invited the guests stated that no ducks were ever taken in this area and it will be a "goose hunt."
About 8 AM we got some sleet followed by light to moderate rain and brutal wind. Not only did specs decoy in the rig but several hundred ducks as well. Large squadrons of pintail were going insane and became well within a twenty-yard range but the limit at the time was only one per gun.
Overall we harvested four full limits of specks and ducks plus about ten snow geese. The guide who said there will be "no skybusting" and he will "call the all of shots" was credited with about three birds because he was the only one who failed to bring raingear and became quite wet and miserable. Someone had to open his iced over truck door for him.
Upon my recollection East Texas and Southwest Louisiana had no power for three or four days.

There are places in South Dakota and Nebraska where you would see lakes and wetlands loaded up. Also, you aren't looking in the right place in Oklahoma. Ducks wintering in Oklahoma don't even need water during the day. I'm sure their feet are warmer because of it.

Hmmm, we’ve got a pile that assumed room temperature this afternoon that were wanting to wet their beaks.

Bird flu in the wild fowl population is being talked about very little however there are reports of thousands of birds being found dead up and down the fly way. This year and last.

Didn't matter, Saturday we had 9 ducks come in shot 7. Sunday 6 Ducks came by and shot 5 found 3. Went over check the feed we had put out and most of it was still on the edge of the ponds some even waterlogged. When piles of grain wont do it its because there aren't any birds here in January and that crazy. They can lie about numbers to someone else.

That’s amazing, I thought you were in for some world-class shooting!
