So, you haven't been paying attention to AL politics very long then...

Most of those frickers are former Dems that switched when the winds changed...

I have. That’s why I followed it up with: “Then you consider that our state leadership in Montgomery is both corrupt and inept. “

That includes our drunken Governor. Of course it was the voters who gave her a landslide victory even though she didn’t do jack shite to deserve it.

I supported the move in the past, but modern communications have rendered the "accessibility" issue as much less important. The Billion dollar price tag makes it unfeasible in the current climate.

I can say with 100% confidence that the Capital being here doesn't give JNU any political clout.

True, but the current statehouse for the legislature offices is a dump, especially when it's sitting in the middle of the new, shiny RSA buildings. Would you rather spend $200 million on an asset that creates jobs and we the State get to keep, or fart in the wind.

It's amazing really. I'd say it's a tribute to the business leadership here along with the younger generation pushing to live downtown again.

If it should move, it should be back to Huntsville. Then again, I'd hate to cross-contaminate Huntsville with the corruption of Hoodgomery.

Historically, your "big money" city isn't usually your state capital. It's very rare.

Frankly, Tuscaloosa would make more sense.

No more than those frickers occupy those offices, they should be working out of tents....

Just read they might spend $200 million of fed virus relief money out of $ 2 billion given on a new state capital building
Why the frick is the federal government giving states buckets of virus relief money to pay for stuff completely unrelated to the virus? Alabama shouldn't be allowed to use federal relief money to build a new capital building just like Illinois shouldn't be allowed to use it to fund their broken state employee pension system.

I agree but no one is going to hold anyone accountable on this money... they never do...

You have to take a ferry down the marine highway or drive through Canada

Burn the whole thing down and start over. Get it away from south Alabama. Hold a constitutional convention and rewrite the existing monstrosity. Build a new, planned, capitol city between Huntsville and Birmingham. Don't allow anyone who is currently, or has ever been a legislator, lobbyist, or even state employee within 50 miles of the new capitol.
