I have cut off communication with my Mom and sister.

I had 2 sisters, both younger than me who have died, one 3 years ago from an inoperable brain tumor and the other this past spring from cancer.

I kept in touch a little with the one who recently died, not so much with the other and I actually got roped into talking to our mother at my sister's recent funeral after us not speaking for over 30 years.

The conversation was brief and awkwardly cordial, but I doubt it will open a communication avenue in the future.

When you're dealing with those on the political left, you're dealing with people who worship the state instead of God. Consequently, these people cannot believe in the concept of natural rights, since most of them are atheists. There is no such thing as a political disagreement with these people. Differing views are apostasy and heresy, since politics has supplanted religion as the fundamental construct of civilization.

Well, we just couldn't keep blaming it on soy, and fluoride in the drinking water.

The tolerant left is hardly tolerant at all……..hypocrites.

My wife’s idiot cousin is a Methodist minister as is his wife. They have a lesbian friend that lives with them and she attends the church the wife is a minister at. Both are seriously mentally ill and my wife’s cousin has been run off from a few churches due to his drinking problems ( alcoholism runs in that family) We had several dust ups on Facebook and he got sauced up one night and sent me a nasty private message. I unloaded on him as did my wife. He is a total POS….

My wife and I lost some friends between 2016-2020. TDS is the cause. Neither my wife or I are his biggest fans but we recognize crazy on both sides.

Politically neutral friendships for the most part and my wife is fairly conservative but much more liberal than I am but she called out some people that were speaking really hatefully about Trump supporters and said “you’re doing the exact same thing you claim to hate.” She quickly got excluded from text threads and our invites to a few things dried up.

We have a large friend group so while it sucked to lose a few people I really loved, they chose to cut it off, not me.

I’m better off for it and they’re wasting their money on Beto fundraisers these days.

My sister is a Warren and Bernie sis and we still get along and love each other. I had a polite meaningful conversation with a neighbor at a 4th party while he was high AF and wearing a Beto “Dont mess with Trans Kids” shirt. We had a good political conversation and hugged afterwards. He’ll talk to me any time. People that cut others off for political beliefs or who they vote for are insecure in their own beliefs.

You didn't speak to your mom for 30 years because of politics? Had to be something else. If not, that's pitiful.

This is all true. Your posts are spot on.

Best friend from HS doesn't do social media but I was FB friends with his wife who is a raging lib Texas Longhorn.

It was nice being able to at least know that my buddy was still alive and watching his kids grow up.

She had massive TDS, pink hat and everything. But she unfriended me over #metoo

She would frequently go on rants about privileged white men and everything they have done wrong.

I pointed out to her that her sons where white males and that someone could accuse them of rape.

She countered with the fact that she was teaching her boys "to not rape" and to be an ally for those with less privilege.

I pointed out to her that the allegations don't have to be true and her sons could be ruined by them.

Rather than understand my point, she just unfriended me. I tried.

Friends in California, yes.

My kids are getting more conservative, especially my son.

Even my liberal daughter has been better since leaving college. We are nicely talking about issues. We had a productive conversation about Roe v Wade. I'm getting better at showing the left's extremism. And she doesn't even try to defend the extremism anymore.

my wife was all in on #metoo and then realized she had sons as well.

i was accused of coercing sex with a psycho from our youth group. i lived 20 miles out of town and she would come by my house in the summer uninvited and i'd say she needed to leave because i didn't have people over alone. then she said she came over to talk and i raped her. fortunately everybody knew she was a psycho and didn't believe her. she went to the pastor and he knew that wasn't true under any circumstances. that accusation in today's world would ruin me for life.

my wife is the first person i got to first base with (not the only one, we broke up for a while, then got back together and married) and the only one i got to subsequent bases with.

after i told her that story, she had a quick about face. she still can have a feminist streak and we need to call out shite bags like Harvey Weinstein, but she stopped "believing all women."

my son has proudly stated this to his sister and hasn't communicated with her or myself in well over a year.

told her, "he is cutting off ties to anyone that votes for Trump."

No. But we believe that her daughter is orchestrating this.

Sorry to hear you are going through something similar.

This has been done on purpose by the left. Communists and Marxists believe that communism and Marxism should be the center of every facet of life. That's why everything has become so politicized.
